Get the parts in Toronto or travell across the border

Hi all

I am travelling to Toronto in November from Norway to visit my brother.
And I thought I should get som parts for my 911 while im there.
Looking to get some parts from vendors like Wevo and Rebel Racing.

So the question is, should I get it sent to my brothers adress in Toronto or shipped to the border and pick it up on the US side.

If I should pick it up on the US side how is it practically done, where to ship? and do I have to pay anything to the customs on the way back to Canada.

Off the topic questions since my wife has prepared a shopping list for clithing for the entire family, do I shop at the outlet malls in Toronto area or is it cheaper to do so in the US.

Thanks Runar

Hi Runar,

You could ask your brother to look into getting a free account with Kinek. This service provides you with an American drop-off point (address) that will accept your mail-order parcels until you come to pick them up. While the account is free, each parcel costs $5 or more for the service. I have used Kinek for several years and have yet to pay more than $5 for anything including carpets, wheel well inserts (don't ask) and a console!

The drawback is that the nearest pick-up location is in Buffalo which is a 2.5 hour drive from Toronto.

You can find out more at https://www.kinek.com/find-a-kinekpoint-result?borderProvinceId=55

Skål.

Have purchases sent to CBI in Niagara Falls New York. its located at 1711 Cuda Back street, no account needed just get you name and phone # on the package.

They charge 5 bucks i think per box to recieve it and no storage fees. check it out.
You will want to make sure it is worth while for the drive but head over with an empty gas tank and fill up while they will pay for the trip. Just call before you go to make sure all your stuff has arrived.

While your there take in the Falls and enjoy your day.

I'd say that it isn't worth the hassle to go from Toronto to buffalo unless you make a trip of it. Niagara Falls is a pretty amazing sight, and you can find hotels nearby pretty cheap. There are also outlet stores on the way that you can see from the highway once you get near enough.

As for having parts shipped to Buffalo, you may save on shipping, but you'll still have to pay duty on anything over $250. You'll also have to deal with crossing the border which can be a ****ty experience, coming and going.

My girlfriend went to school/lived in Buffalo for the last 6 years, so I've crossed countless times and brought tons of stuff back with me, usually with no problems, but I've also had to deal with total dicks.

If she were still there, I'd offer to have it shipped to her house and I'd bring it back as you're allowed to bring more value in goods the longer your stay, but she's gone even further down to South Carolina for her internship.

Just have the stuff ordered and shipped to Toronto and save the headache, but still consider going to check out the Falls. Some really nice roads to drive out that way too.

Just used CBI to pick up a package. They are 5 minutes from the border.
Very nice people. There is a signup procedure that you can do on line.
Follow package using USPS tracking. When your package arrives call CBI to let them know that you will be picking the package up the next day. They put it in a ready room.

Had no issues at the border. Actually ask the border guard if it is okay to bring oil and gasket sealants across the border. He said no problem as long as you pay the duty.

Going to order me some Sweepco 201, and the Supertec Performance Case Sealant Kit.

Many things you save by crossing the border, but Swepco products are available here.

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

Pretty much everything is cheaper in Buffalo.
