windshields

I just received a rock chip from a dump truck about an hour ago and went to my local glass repair place and he said that he cannot get a new windshield for my 88 carrera. It has the integral antennae in the glass. I would prefer a sekurit but will accept a sigla. any idea where one can obtain this in Canada. I reside in central BC.
thank you. Dan. oh ya.....http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1471637957.jpg

There is a guy who posts in the classifieds Richard from ProSource glass. When I went to replace mine, I was told there wasn't anyone in Canada that had correct one. It was not cheap, but I ordered from Richard, and drove down to Niagara Falls and picked it up. It ended up costing me around $800, which was about half of what the dealer wanted. Richard was very easy to deal with. It was Pilkington brand, made by Sigla. One final point - sometime midyear 1988, Porsche changed the size of the pinch weld for windshield, and it is actually a 964 part number for both glass and seal. The earlier windshield will not fit. May not affect your car, but worth a check? If you want the Sekurit brand, the dealer may be your only choice? Also I think Stoddards might have the original - a Porsche Classic part.

edit. As my car is a japanese domestic market car, left hand drive. I don't have the sticker in the door jam to show the build date so I can cross reference to the porsche bulletin for pinch weld changes. my vin ends in 9636 which i am assuming a late month production. my maintenance manual does not have the sticker and I cannot locate a build date sticker on my car. original paint. it also does not help that i am japanese illiterate. i guess the only sure way would be to physically measure the pinch weld once the window is out? am i correct in this assumption or is there another way to verify. i really appreciate the help. thank you.

I would assume you are fine - the change happened around October, so really 89. I just find that changes can be approximate. I didn't really look for any cheap replacements, I have read the fit on those can be hit or miss.
