Glove box latch

The glove box on my wifes Mini Cooper S falls open with the slightest provication. The latch seems to have just barely enough tension to keep it close while parked and it falls open within a mile of starting to drive.

It appears that the glove box door is glued together so that fixing the latch would entail replacing the entire door with latch. It also looks like the entire glove box needs to be removed to get at the door mounts. Anyone else had this problem or replaced the latch or door?

Eron

Hey is anyone else out there?

Well the glove box door is glued together and needs to be replaced as an assembly. The good news is it will be replaced under warranty.

I really need to get in here more and keep the BBS moving a bit more. I'm going to see if I can find a list of all factory warranty fixes and such.

Well the glove box started falling open again... I may have to modify the latch myself since replacing the glove box door only lasted 2 months. It appears that the angle between the latch and the catch is too shallow. When it was all new you could pull on the door and it would fall open.
