05 Mini Cooper S Car was sitting for a year and a half. Car would not move after new battery was installed. Would changing the transmission fluid solve this problem? Low energy light comes on inside the car.

The vehicle starts and run, but does not drive? Did it drive before it was left to sit?

I would start by checking the transmsiison fluid level.

I worked on one that sat foe just over a year . ..
It took moving to drive , N , P , R a few times then she started gripping.

The transmissions are "sealed" but fluid can be changed (it is an interesting system that you need to do (I have a container and hang it from the rafters and use gravity / trans pump to do the work .)
