2009 MINI Cooper Non-S - rear brake piston

I am changing my pads out with the pads I bought from you on my '09 Justacooper.

I can't seem to get the rear passenger side piston to retract/compress.

I've tried the 'tool', a wrench, needlenose pliers, and it won't budge past a certain point. In fact, I can't even get them back over the original worn pads.

Any tips on getting the piston to compress?

Thanks - Island Boy

Well, I'll answer my own post

Thanks to some tips from the Atlanta and Georgia MINI groups, I was able to get the piston compressed doing the following:

1. Back the piston out counterclockwise all the way as far as it will go.
2. Flip ratchet, using generic 'cube' brake tool and extension, rotate clockwise until it compresses fully.
3. Slip back over new (thick) brake pads, reassemble caliper. Bleed brakes if needed.

Good luck.
