Brake Pad Wear Sensor
Hello everyone. My first time on this forum.
I have a 2012 Mini Base Model. I recently replaced the front brakes and I also replaced (tried to anyway) the wear sensor cable. When I removed the old sensor from the brake pad I had to pry it out. I was really solidly seated in there with no play. When I went to install the new sensor it sat in the slot very loosely like it wasn't seated properly. I pushed on it with a screwdriver thinking I needed to seat it better and promptly broke the plastic on the rear of the connector. The piece that fits into the brake pad. Should the sensor just kind of sit in the slot very loosely when new? Does it seat more solidly after the brakes are applied a few times? What am I doing wrong here. I'm ordering a new cable and I don't want to mess this one up as well. Thanks much. |
When I do it, I do push it in gently with a screwdriver and there's a click when it pops into place. When it's in, it does still move around a bit.
