r53 Cooper s Clutch issue
Afternoon everyone,
I have quite the dilemma as of a few weeks ago. Within a matter of 36 hours my vehicles clutch "went out." I was unable to shift into any gear while the vehicle was running. The clutch pedal could be depressed to the floor with little effort. I should mention I had the clutch replaced 15-20,000 miles prior to this incident. Upon evaluation of some other issues that had arisen, I decided to repair it myself. During the process I have replaced the valve cover gasket, spark plug gaskets, plugs, supercharge oil and gaskets, serpentine belt, abs sensors, brake senors, and most importantly slave and master clutch cylinders. everything was bled and working however the clutch still was not activating until the last 1/2 inch of depression of the pedal and not returning to its normal position at the top of the stroke. I was able to move the clutch throwarm counter clockwise about 1/2 inch by hand. Now my question is, from my understanding the throwout arm should not move at all by hand, thus the pedal should return to normal position via the pressure from the throwout arm compressing the slave cylinder. Now does this mean my flywheel is bad or some part of the clutch? I'm going to rebleed the system once more to make sure but like I mentioned, the throwarm should not be able to be moved by hand which leads me to believe that is the problem for the clutch not working properly. Please if anyone could shed some light on how the throwarm works and or if its adjustable. I would like to know if its something can fix or if I need to have it replaced. Thanks again for the support everyone. |
