Hi, Getting ready to change my thermostat and housing 06 mini cooper R50 is the thermostat with the gasket supposed to fit inside the housing? I can't get it to fit, put a little lube but, the gasket with the gasket installed around it will not fit into the housing, any suggestion thanks, Mike

Is it a new gasket? Yes it should fit inside the groove.
