OBD 2 won't connect to scanner
 

02 Cooper starts and runs has been sitting 6 months or so. I can't get a reading on the scanner and the exterior lights stay on,sun roof inop, door locks,heater/a/c don't respond. Is the BC1 connected to the OBD2 harness? Thanks Rick

Hey Rick, since it's been sitting so long did you have to jump it/charge up the battery? I'd be concerned about the condition of the battery if it's been sitting that long and not hooked up to a battery tender. MINI's are known to have all sorts of weird electrical gremlins when a battery is bad or on its way out. A battery is the cheapest place to start.

Thanks, the battery is ok. Its fixed. BMW did not bother to put clamps on the rubber sunroof drains and they conveniently leak directly on the plug on the drivers side and the BC1 module on the passengers side. Cleaned all pins and dried out all seems good now. Fun car but the last BMW product I will own, the local dealer is horrible just a bunch of UTI trainee that they through to the wolfs. Thank god I do my own service and I can get parts from Pelican. Thanks for the reply.

Yes, those sunroof drains are known to come loose and also commonly get clogged so be sure to keep an eye on them. Glad it's fixed and that is all it was, Rick! Enjoy and if you run into any other issues just let me know.
