I have a 2006 Mini Cooper that won't shift into first gear but will for the other 4 5 speed manual trans and shifts into reverse. Any ideas what might be wrong before I take it in?

The cables may be faulty. Check the movement at the trans, see if the shift linkage moves along with the shifter.
