I, too, made the mistake of removing the inspection plug on the automatic transmission of my 2012 Clubman during an oil change. Before I realized that I was on the wrong side of the engine and put the plug back, about a quart of fluid escaped.

I followed the directions above heated the fluid and tranny, added fluid to the fill hole while watching the inspection hole. Almost immediately after adding some fluid at the top, it started to trickle out the bottom.

The question is, "does this make sense?" My driveway was level and I wouldn't have expected any fluid to escape. The car drives around the block ok with no new noises. What would explain the fluid that did escape? Overfill from the factory? Broken or missing overflow tube I didn't remove it and as far as I know, no service on the tranny has been done.

Thanks in advance.

If the vehicle wasn't level, that is why fluid escaped. It was not overfill.
