Question for 2007 Mini Cooper S 6 speed transmission

Hi there,

I have a 2007 Mini Cooper S with the 6 speed automatic transmission. Reverse, 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear is fine but it won'tgo into 4,5 and 6. Even if you put it into manual mode and select 4th it will come up on the read out but it won't be in any gear, the engine just revs. Thought it might just have been solenoid but I got a diagnostic done and it has a code 4F96 ratio monitoring 5th gear. Have been told the K2 clutch is burnt out and the transmission needs to be rebuilt which will cost between $7,500 and $10,000 (Australian). I have looked around for a replacement transmission and found a 6 speed automatic from a 2011 R56 for much less. My question is can the transmission from the 2011 R56 be fitted to my 2007 R56?

Any insight would be great

Cheers

I'm honestly not 100% sure as I believe the automatic transmission part numbers are different although both are GA6F21WA.

I've never done something like this myself so I'd probably suggest doing a quick Google search and finding an independent MINI specialist shop in your area or even in the states (not sure what $$ for calls here would cost you) as they would most likely be able to tell you if it's possible. I wouldn't be surprised if a few items would need to be changed from your N14 R56 to be compatible with the N18 R56 transmission.
