My 2010 Mini Cooper Clubman S was running OK, but then I decided to add some "fuel injection cleaner" into the gas tank. Instead of adding it when at the gas station, I added it one evening, and the car sat overnight and into the next day before being driven. Soon afterward the car became hard to start, and would die, misfire, and stutter, for a minute, but then would run just fine. If it sat for a short while, the start-up was better, but if it sat overnight, then then the symptoms would resurface.
I am guessing that the FI cleaner may have damaged the check valve in the fuel pump, and the pressure drops to zero. Is this possible? Is there any way to repair the check valve? Many thanks.

the cleaner likely damaged the fuel pump itself. This is common when a cleaner is added without a full tank or too much cleaner is added. Give The Pelican Parts parts specialists a call at 1-888-280-7799. They can figure out what part or repair kit you need.

Was it a full tank when added? What cleaner did you add? I highly recommend BG 44k over any other product out there on the market. Is your check engine light on? Any codes when you plug into your DME?
