New owner in Brisbane

Hi Everyone thought I should introduce myself.

This is mine, I bought it Monday after flying down to Sydney from Brisbane for the day

1978 PORSCHE 911 SC - 74 WIDEBODY IROC RSR REPLICA

Click for specification sheet for more information and 50 more images in my gallery.

Original Arrow Blue Australian delivered car bare shell rebuild to the current specifications in 1999/2000 with all steel wide body and documented engine upgrade work done by Porsche Cars Australia. The thing is immaculate with very low kilometres on it since the rebuild. The car is known to me with a good friend having purchased it in 2002 after the restoration and since then he has done most of the changes to 74 IROC RSR spec and added the other Rennline parts and upgrades.

The car is basically complete other than the front and rear IROC bars & IROC whale tail for track days (I'll keep the Ducktail for the street) and the oil cooler move which I will complete along with some nice throaty tweaks to the intake and exhaust area .

It is an absolute weapon and a blast to drive and is in immaculate condition with no expense spared on the bare chassis and engine rebuilds with some nice upgrades to the power area.

The car was featured in the November 2009 Edition of GT Porsche Magazine and I have a copy of it ordered and on the way to go with all the other documentation of the whole build from the start in 99 to present day.

Car will be in Brisbane by the second week in October and is being shipped up by a private carrier who will also bring the various sets of spare wheels, spare new Michelin tyres for the 15" Fuchs reps, roll bars and other assorted spares and extras.

More info to come as I get to know the car better and start the process of researching on the best way to finish the 74 IROC RSR tribute over the coming months / year.

Cheers Al

nice car

Saw this car earlier in the year, was most impressed, appeared well sorted and the bodywork seemed very well done.

Would have loved it except it went onto the market a bit late for me.
The colour looks better in real life!

congrats...

Thanks Steve, just waiting for it to get up here. I've already "virtually" spent the value of the car again just browsing the site for all the nice extra go fast bits for the engine trying to keep myself occupied waiting for it. LoL

If it doesn't get here soon I'll have to sell it if I mistakenly press checkout

Cheers Al

Congrats!

Arrow Blue is one of the best colours these cars ever came in... But I'm biased My car was Arrow Blue for 15 years up to it's current restoration back to the original Ossi Blue (click my signature).

I'm keen to see the Michelins up close as I'm probably going to include them on my wheel restoration.

I have a spare glass IROC glass bumper in Arrow Blue under the house... Brisbane Nth side PM me if you're interested...

Hi Fishcop, thanks mate, I read some of your posts about your car already, I'm in Kedron, are you a member of PCQ might have met previously at a track day, I used to own the blue Mk IV VW R32 we used in Targa.

Definitely interested in the IROC bumper if it will fit the 11" rear turbo guards? I should have a set of the Michelins off rim when the car gets here week of the 10th that your welcome to come and have a look at. I'll PM for more info on the rear bar.

Cheers Al

Hey Al

Definitely saw the VW in action

The bumper is a front one with the big-ass cooler intake... however I think it is meant for a narrow front. Not real sure as I bought it by mistake before I knew anything and painted it In any case you're welcome to come by and have a look

I definitley wanna see the TB15 tyres

Front is 9" turbo guards but will definitely drop round for a look and see if it will fit. I want to change the Fuchs reps to the IROC car style with the highlighted spokes. Is there anyone up here who can do them properly or is it a matter of sending them OS to that Al guy in the states?

Cheers Al

I'll be meeting it at T&D when it arrives and getting the inspection done on it that day so I can get the rego on it and get it home ASAP. Plates are staying much the same as the NSW ones except black with white letters and 30 RSR instead of the existing RSR 30.

Not sure if T&D are the mechanics of choice up here but they are the only ones I know so far who do Porsche so I'll get the inspection done at least and then discuss with you guys who you use and why for regular servicing / upgrade work.

At least it has given me time to scour the net for the IROC bumpers, Whale Tale and carpet. Once the rego is done I want to get the roll bar back in it and get the carpet re-trimmed in RS lightweight style to cover the back parcel shelf etc.

The carpet in it is immaculate but there are a couple of areas like that area when the rear seats and parcel shelf are out that need redoing so I am just going to redo the whole car. Ted mentioned a place around the corner from him but I am open to other suggestions if someone has had RS style carpeting done before and was happy with the work please feel free to pass on the info.

I saw there was a place in Sydney called 911 parts who do RS carpet kits but heard the material used in them might not be up to spec. The previous owner knows the guys at ZAG and spoke to them yesterday and they are trying a new supplier of the pre-made kits from the states who do RHD versions and I'm waiting on a report of the quality of that kit to see if I am better off getting a kit in or getting a trimmer here to do a custom job. Budget for the whole job is around $1500 so not sure what a custom job would cost when the kits are mid $500.00

Again any and all previous info appreciated.

Fishcop this is a pic of the used spare set of Michelin tyres I just got today, Craig went a looked at them and they have only had the top knocked off and are in very good condition. I got the whole set for $500 so I'm stoked at the price and the condition of them considering one new tyre is $500. These will go on the car one the others have been used thoroughly but will be arriving with the car so you can drop round and check them out then

Cheers Al
