Plans for 2013?
Three days into the new year and no one has posted yet - you must all be recovering from NYE.
So what are everyone's plans for 2013? I'll start it off. Get the PCNSW competition committee up and running for the year - I'll need the help because...... I'm moving to Mudgee . After 6 years of studying, Sharon has landed a job as a Vet in Mudgee, so we are pulling stumps over the next 6 months and making for a tree change. I'll still be at all the events - heck, I'll be even closer to Bathurst! but the distance to tracks means one change ..... I'll have to use track support to change tires and suspension etc when I get there. It's four hours from Mudgee to Goulburn via Lithgow and Oberon, so I'm not sure my kidneys will handle it well on R-Specs and rock hard suspension settings - but I understand it's a great drive. Find a job in Mudgee - the contract I'm on is great but finishes end of April. So I'll be starting to see what Contract Management roles might be available - my recent background has been with IT customers, but spent 16 years in Telco sales before that and another 10 in the Construction (Building) profession before that - Estimating and Quantity Surveying. My ideal role would be doing what I do best but telecommuting (work from home) - I've done that in the past for about 5 years. I'll get some things tidied up on the car - front and rear fibreglass bumpers have some minor cracks/damage which I'd like to get fixed and repainted - and the doors have holes in them now where the old elephant ear mirrors went. (now running 935 style mirrors). At least Porsche black is a standard colour which only comes in one shade - and Zag's have lots of it. With lots of country drives ahead of me, it's time to think about replacing the windscreen - it's pretty chipped and pitted from almost 30 years and it shows up worst when heading into the afternoon sun! Engine mods will probably not happen this year - although with two regular incomes for the first time in almost 25 years who knows what might happen. I'm still torn between the 3.2short stroke with Carrera intake and Chip or just going for a 3.6 993 engine .......... $ and time will tell. Half cage for the car is definately being considered. Safety items are probably the easiest to get approval from the prices justification tribunal (wife) If I think of anything else I'll add it later ....... But what are you all planning for 2013? Hey mate,
Sounds like you have heaps planned for 2013. Myself not much really at this stage, got rotors to do this weekend and hopefully a new exhaust me time soon. other than that I'll be try'n to get out to events and the like. |
My plans for 2013 are to finish all the projects I started in 2010 and 2011 that didn't get finished in 2012 :(

Too much tinkering and not enough driving in 2012. Need to change that in 2013. |

Guilty of that also, I aim to get at least 5000ks done in a 911 this year, mind you just getting a new motorbike isn't going to help that. |
Tim, solid future and history. Congrats. Sounds like quite an undertaking to say the least!
Hopefully it won't curtail the momentum that you've developed with you and the car over the last few years. Sounds like quite a few miles to be 'enjoyed' over the coming seasons. Hope to see you out there myself this season after one interruption following another, year after year. Should be a fun 2013 for all and sundry. :) |
Well said Patrick and Tim, best of luck with the HUGE changes you and S have planned

Mudgee
Henry Lawson country.
Nice town, mostly friendly people, good medical facilities, not a bad shopping centre, lots of vineyards, (eg Wild Oats - home of Wild Oats 11 if you are into yachts), some nice back roads, lots to explore. Lots of pubs with good meals for lunch and dinner. Windscreens O'B at Mudgee only too happy to help with my Porsche windsceen enquiry, just haven't done anything yet. Three hours to major centres, eg, Dubbo, Tamworth, Bathurst. 4 hours to Newcastle. I'm not from Mudgee, just worked there for awhile. Plenty of coal mines may want I.T or some of your other skills. Good luck |

ps...Wayne, are you back here yet? Time to join the club and get into the festivities. EDIT: Ah, I see that you are back. Did you bring the 996 over? Where is the Yellow Beast?? |
Wow Tim,
Now that is a big change! Sure lets get together for a formal Competition Committee Meeting (along with any interrested parties or submissions) and get the info posted for all. I'm free from Monday 11th and even have plenty of room at my house to fit several cars + "delegates". I think amalgamating: 1.) E1 + E2 into E Class (only 7 cars all year in both classes) 2.) D1 + D2 into D Class (only 10 cars all year) <gman will win anyway!!> I think a road reg. Slick category beneath O would be of great interest. A & S Classes are a bit more difficult, possibly adjust the power to weight a bit. Lets hear ideas. |
Sounds good to me Mark.

I'm looking to get my US imported 75 911s rego'd hopefully!
|
Plan on getting my car registered again after a 3 year lay-up.
Checked her over and fired her up last week and snuck out for a quick run and surprisingly everything feels great! I'll flush the brake fluid, change the oil and filter and get her up on stands to have a looky see. Other than it's all fine. I'll need a blue slip which means I'll probably have to put back some of the interior including rear seats & belts but I'm looking forward to getting back out on the track again. It's interesting comparing the tracks from both a car & motorcycle perspective. Hope to see some of you guys out there soon. |
sus911 who are you using to blue slip your car?
|
I've been recommended to outfits within 100m from each other in Tengah Crs. Mona Vale. I can't remember their names.
Haven't decided which I'll use yet but I'll advise hopefully next week if you need a suggestion. |
A 3 year restoration leaves me desperate to actually drive a 911... It will be finished in time to drive to the Rennsport Reunion in May...
|
Get turbo set up on the 911 and running.
