Canned corned beef

My mom would make corned beef hash and corned beef and cabbage from this stuff. It always looked a little sketchy to me. You can see the blood vessels in it. Nothing wrong with that, but I wonder what other unidentifiable stuff is in there. I don’t eat it myself anymore. Do y’all eat this stuff?

I love salt.

Hormel,
It's the best. Sunday mornin' hangover. Corned beef, eggs, potatoes, pancakes

My grandma would make corned beef hash using canned corned beef when I was a kid. It was delicious.

Just a few months ago I decided to try Hormel's corned beef hash in a can thinking it couldn't possibly be that different from what grandma made. It is. I took one bite and couldn't stomach another. Dunno if I got a faulty can or what but no person should consume the amount of salt that is in one of those. My god. It was pretty much beef flavored salt with some potato chunks in it. It was awful.

The Mary Kitchen brand is the one I prefer. I only have it about once a year. I like making my own out of leftovers. Pork, beef, chicken, doesnt matter. Then chop it and toss in a pan of potatoes, onions, peppers. Season to taste. Throw it an a plate with some eggs, mmm...now thats a good breakfast !

Another tasty treat is "Red Flannel Hash" which is the leftovers from a corned beef and cabbage dinner. You just chop it all up, carrots, onions, potatoes, cabbage, and corned beef. Into the skillet and enjoy.

Great, now I am hungry...wonder whats in the fridge. Hash sounds good right now.

My mum would make it too...thankfully I have not eaten it in 30 years...

Oops...got a bit off topic, from canned corned beef to corned beef hash.

I enjoy the canned corned beef. I just slice it out of the can and make a sandwich. Again, like hash, I only have it about once a year.

I like corn beef hash. In a pinch, I use the canned version. with eggs over easy, potatoes and a side of bacon, that's my go to breakfast when I go to diners for breakfast.

That guy took 8 minutes to say, “add a can of corned beef to a skillet of home fries.”

Never had it in 59 years.

So what.

Like the guy that's never had a drink jumping into a thread about beer and announcing he doesn't drink. Come back when you gain experience with all the bad foods of the world...

Who pissed in your Cheerio's this morning? The first post had a question. Rocket answered it. Nothing like going from 0-90 in a split second. Christ.

It's always the journey that counts....not the destination. Especially in cooking, making love, and restoring the classics.

I have a bunch of cans in the back of the cupboard.
It stays there, and from time to time if I don't feel like going to the store for fresh supplies I get one out, look at the expiration date, somewhere in 2008.

And eat it... good stuff
