It's been a long time...

Mrs. Beard's 2011 BMW X5 needed new brake pads. I decided to take on the job myself. I think the last set of pads I changed was on her 2000 X5...

#1. Who the hell uses a REVERSE torx bolt? E18 tool required to remove calipers.
#2. Why do we need pad sensors in the damn cars?
#3. Who makes these sensors? Every one of them I've removed disintegrates.

Done.

How did you get your head dirty? My hands and arms get dirty doing a brake job, but not my head. Never mind, I see you are in Houston. Are you crazy working in that heat and humidity! Get a cold pack to help you cool down.

The best part of this picture is actually (what I believe to be) the sweatband. Excellent choice for some H-town summer wrenching. Not kidding when I say I've been meaning to get a couple.

Sweat wiping after the head band was full. But geez. I don't remember the black dust being this bad before.

My picture reminded me of someone here telling a story about black all round his mouth, and his wife accusing him of giving his Porsche a blow job.

I somewhat expected you to look more like your avatar . Make sure to tighten your wheels when done !

Well, 20 years ago I did have a much longer, red beard...

That's no sweatband. Its a beanie hat just like the hipster that wear them in 100 degree heat. Red-beard is hip, but we always knew that about ya:)

Have you ever considered a second career in radio?

MBAtarga 08-10-2018 04:25 PM

At first glance, I thought the brake dust was actually bruises, and the headband was a bandage. I'd say you came out better than that!

Once the swelling in your face goes down you’ll appreciate all the money you saved.

And 16 years ago I joined this forum. You were in CA and I remember the beard. Might have been shorter though?

He didn't save anything. The "savings" went back to liquids for hydration!
