Does not look canine to me. If you were to apply Occam's Razor it would be as likely to me a cat. Cats have been in that area since the 80s for sure from the sightings.
Also, the posture. https://previews.123rf.com/images/ad...aying-down.jpg |

Look at the rear paws and the front legs. Totally different posture and build.
I flipped the image and cut the front off to match the OP. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1534946565.jpg |

I walk my 150 lbs dog on a local trail that starts right outside my driveway. I can't tell you how many times people come off the trail all excited talking about seeing MTN lion tracks. Oh brother. Yotes are a dime a dozen across the country. What fun is the picture if its just a scared coyote. |
Doan know what it is, but I ain't giving it no tree fiddy!

That said, I have to agree with you that if it's just a coyote then it's no fun for the media. _ |
The hindquarters look muscular. Yotes are scrawny. With a summer coat coyotes look especially scrawny. I did come across a pict of a cougar in a tree worth sharing.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1534949928.jpg

Dogs (including coyote) are capable of tucking their front legs under like that when cold.
Example: https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photos-husky-lying-snow-image22669343 We will never know for sure what it is, heck of a guessing game though. I do not think it is a big cat, but that was my first reaction. |
