Brian Bell, Ron and me, what feels like a long time ago. |
Me too....glad I had the good fortune to become his Oregon pit stop...won't forget the guy...
|
Rons car was in Bills shops for a bit, saw it a few weeks ago when I dropped in.. Bill was correcting things another shop did that the estate brought the car to did..
Anyway had a bunch of good laughs recounting Ron stories/ experiences...He was a character, all around good guy, wore his heart on his sleeve..bend over backward to lend a hand.. salt of the earth.. |
Good guy. Hope he is on to a better journey/place...where vintage cars are new and the beer is cold.

+1. Where you at RoninLB?
PS Slacker, ur needed in PARF. ;) rjp |
Never got to meet Ron, but have been looking for a favorite picture of him on a camping trip with a load of firewood in the back of his car. That reflects one of the things I realy appreciated about him. Adventuring and using his 911 to have fun in the process.
Thanks for bring him up, cool guy! Cheers Richard |
That was 12-14 years ago?
Doesn't really seem like that long ago..... Miss the old dude... |
Hanging out in paradise with Grady Clay and EarlySman I imagine...building a ratrod.

I was glad to be a Washington pit stop for the man. Miss you, Ron.
|
Very cool dude. He invited me out to his garage to help me bleed my brakes. Wish I could have gotten to spend more time with him. Maybe I would have joined him on a cross country drive.
|
He helped me in the 911 tech section many times, will always be remembered.

I think he drove down to the Dragon's Tail run when a fairly large group of Pelican's met up. That must have been about 14 or 15 years ago..

All who spent time with Ron are the better off for it. My thoughts often return to the time. |
Ron was a gentleman. Gave me all sorts of info on setting up my PMO carbs.
RIP |

I organized that with another former Pelican. I met Ron and his then new friend a local Appalachian hick named John called Brorag on here. The 2 of them together that weekend was hysterical a real mutt and Jeff match up. Ron on one hand a somewhat loud New Yawker and this louder Hillbilly complete with overalls on yukking it up. The weather that weekend was brisk, like in the 30's at night. Ron and John were camping in tents nearby, we all thought they were out of their minds. It was a fantastic weekend I ended up making friends that weekend that I keep up with to this day all because of that meet up. We tried to make it a yearly Pelican thing and ran into just enough push back to not bother anymore. About 2 dozen of us broke away and created a BB to organize more weekends like that one. We did it up until 2011 or 2012 when the economy kind of killed it for us as well as many moving on in life to other things. I will never forget those two together, I cracked up every time I thought of them, they were instant best friends. |
Ron's small garage was set up to do most anything.
