$3.4 million

More than I'd pay for a pretty worn out '68 Mustang, but that was the final bid..

Does one restore it? I remember there are odd mods made for camera mounts and such. Those would have to stay.

That's the big question...restore it to what level? It's condition when leaving the studio is only a guess at best.

No word on who bought it. I hope it ends up in the Ford museum.

I think that's the only Mustang, outside of a P51, worth that.

Here's a neat coincidence.

I was looking through the link in post #6 and the address for Mr Kiernan is literally a half mile from where my Grandmother lived on 60 Keep St.

We visited her twice each year all through the 70's. Spent tons of time in the Madison library just down the street.

Later, I owned a '68 Mustang coupe for a couple years. Fun car.

I have no opinion on the auction price. None o my bidness.

Agreed : That would be preferable over ending up in a crowd

Stijn, hasn't anybody told you that constantly repeating an old joke...well, gets old and boring?

What's the matter, afraid your Cayman couldn't keep up here?

Just for you, the auction itself:

Well sold, since the target audience is diminishing as they follow McQueen to that big dirt track in the sky. They might use some of the money to buy an early Tesla. ;-)

You aren't the target market.

You're not buying a Piacasso either.
Doesn't mean it should sell for $20 since that's what the paint and canvass cost.

If I truly wanted a 1967 Mustang, I would start with a new Dynacorn body, and finish with a Coyote motor in a cool restomod.
