My Amazon account was hacked 😡

My Amazon account was hacked last night.😡

I don’t know how, but I woke up at about 4:30 and couldn’t sleep. Checked my phone and saw several emails from “Amazon“. I figured they were spam and deleted them, but I tried to log in and couldn’t.

It has a @list.ru domain email as my user name now. Damn Ruskies!

I tried to reset my user name and password, but it wants verification by sending the request to the list.ru email.

I called Amazon and filed a complaint. The account is frozen and they said “Accounts” will contact me within 24 hours.

My cc was linked to the account (I’m lazy) and I cancelled the card.

The funny thing is, I couldn’t log in on the web page, but can access it through the Amazon app. All I can see is they wrote a glowing review for a watch. A search says this is common.

While there, I deleted my cc info.

I also changed my email password.

Rant over. Stay safe out there.

wow, that sucks. Good luck, hopefully, nothing new pops up. If you have ANY other accounts anywhere on the 'Net that use the same password as your Amazon account, you should change those passwords as well.

When you sign back up set up 2-step verification. I’ve set 2 step verification up for almost all my accounts to avoid being hacked.

Sadly this means nothing if they get your name, card number, expiration date and code on back...

The hack was to SPG, which was Sheraton-Ritz Carton, which was bought by Marriott. Marriott was not hacked.

for the past month, I have been getting alerts from my Citibank credit card that "Amazon Prime" is trying to pass a $14 charge, but the credit card info is incorrect. The message is legit, but I can't find any Amazon purchases of any kind. I called Amazon and they don't have a trace of the charge either, or that credit card number on file.

I should probably close that account and open a new one. ugh...

Sorry you are incorrect, regardless of the name the ownership was breached to the tune of 500 million! Users over 4-5 years

I had the 2 step verification, but they got in. I changed my email password as well.

I’m thinking of deleting the account and starting a new one. I’d like to transfer some of my purchases to reorder later.

I’ve been looking for an iPhone antivirus app but haven’t found one yet. I do have a vpn set up.

I believe Malwarebytes can be setup on Android and iOS devices

I think it’s weird that I couldn’t readily find an antivirus/ malware app for my iPhone.

Maybe I’m using the wrong terms?

My sisters was hacked for around a grand.

I'm still fighting amazon for sending me an empty box. They don't want to refund or reship. Amazon....

.

How does this happen?
They intercepted your texts to get the code that is sent?

Ina any case, thanks, I just set up 2-step on my account.

I don’t know.

I revived several emails this afternoon for reviews of items I didn’t buy. They are pretty comical, but amazon said they were rejected for some reason.

Set up two-step after the Mrs was hacked a month ago. Also now using the Apple suggested multi-character numeric passwords rather than my old 10 character ones. Knock on wood.

I’m amazed they found a way around 2SV, but I’m not as savvy with customer side stuff as I am with seller side stuff. I will say I know this is something that is not taken lightly and you will get your account back soon and in normal order. Likely a new account would t have any less risk, as they got in by knowing you email and password. You didn’t click on any links in suspicious emails lately did you?
