IT related ?

Wife has asked that I look into finding USB 'stick' that doesn't have a security system installed on it, <1Gb.
Can you format a 'stick' from Windows Explorer and wipe out a security system if it has one?
These will/would be used on her sewing machines which won't recognize 'sticks' larger than 1Gb.
Thanks for any help.

Yes, unless it's hardware based security which you are unlikely to run into.

Just buy a run of the mill drive.

Good luck finding one that small, otherwise what he said ^

Go to Amazon, search "USB stick" and on the left size, select "1Gb and Under"

I am confused.

<1 GB = Greater than 1 GB

>1 GB = Smaller than 1 GB

Or have I had it backwards all these years?

Scott Douglas 12-07-2018 08:53 AM

Thanks guys.

Yes, Jim, you've had it backwards.

He could always use a larger and just make a -1GB partition for the sewing machine.

Partition and format the remainder as something the sewing machine won't recognize but a PC will.

Win WIn.

The open end has the larger number.

1000 > 100
100 < 1000

I found some on Amazon and asked her to order them. Not sure if she did. If they don't work I may have to resort to the format/partition solution but really don't want to go there as it would probably confuse SWMBO.

When I see it now with numbers like that it makes sense. For some reason I kept reading op as more than 1gb.

Thanks wildthing.

if it points "left", it is "less than".

Yeah I see it now, I have no idea why it was flipping in my mind all I had to do was put a number there and it would have made better sense.

1KB<1GB
