Hangar party

I went to a hangar party last night. This guy had a lot of cool stuff. Here are just a few pics. He had 4 large hangars, he even had a old 356 in one, and like his planes it was pristine. I didn’t take pics of them all, maybe next year. Someone said he had over 30 old warbirds in all. Some are in other locations. He only lives here a couple of months a year. He has a retired airline pilot take care of these. They are flown regularly by him. Nice job if you can get it.

The hangars are outside of PGD property, but have access thru a gate. So I assume private property with airport access.

Makes my pocket knife and watch collecting seem like a crave for something salty.

The amount of cool airplanes tucked away in regional airports is surprising.

Even at our airport in NC, Foothills, there are some neat aircraft: My partners Globe Swift.

I don't have permission to post pics of other planes at the airport...while not as spiffy as the OP's pics, still cool.

I was at a local airport looking a buddy's 152, and we heard a airplane startup. No doubt in anyone's mind, it was the sound of real piston power. The Miss America P-52 Mustang was firing up. Awesome sound and aircraft. It "lives" in the hangar just a few down from my friends 152.

Cool collection.

(Wait, that party was yesterday, December 14? There's a guy in shorts and Tevas. Where do you live, Bimini?)

Punta Gorda, Florida. Just a little north of Fort Myers.

A local guy owns one of the last 50 Globe Swifts made. OH'd it himself as part of his A&P cert. The thing looks like a sports coupe for the sky and he flies it that way too.

Nice collection and display hanger. Does he have another working hanger where the work and messes happen?

Interesting landing gear on the small plane with the yellow wings, allmost seems to be installed backwards.

Cheers Richard

Everything was immaculate, my wife was wondering why my hangar and garage didn’t look the same. Maybe the work hangar wasn’t opened for the party, or he has them worked on somewhere else. But I would assume he would have a mechanic come to him. I’ll ask next time I see the guy who takes care of them.

The hangars looked more like a museum, even all the framed posters on the wall were interesting.

A friend of mine used to own that Mustang when it was named Mary Bear. I just flew through your airport (the main one) yesterday.
