On a different topic, do you think Williams will survive much longer as an F1 team ? Should it, even ?
Last race they retired Kubica because they didn't have enough spares for Japan. Williams !!! The drivers are saying nothing but hinting there's deep issues (lack of $$) in the team.

They're dead last despite a good engine, nowhere near fighting other Mercedes customers, top engineers/managers have left or been dismissed, I can't imagine them still being in F1 in 2021, maybe not even next year... (and I still don't understand how Maldonado scored that one win, otherwise it'd be even longer since the good old days). I'm curious how Robert might have done in a decent car, his team mate by all accounts is very good - but you cannot tell in a car 2.5 sec slow... Apparently KUB is going to HAAS as a test driver and hopefully to help solve their engineering/development woes.

Can only say good things about Williams, my first client for nearly 3 yrs, they're my kind of people  and some are very good friends which makes it especially sad for me to read about their woes :(

F1 is a cruel game, on track nostalgia/past success count for nothing and it punishes mediocrity ruthlessly by purging the grid of teams not keeping up. Williams is still the 2nd most successful F1 team

Big changes coming to F1 which should help the smaller teams, I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping they can hang on until then

You are definitely not alone. I used to get all my F1 news in the pages of AutoWeek when it was a newspaper not a magazine, and THIS GUY was tearing up the tracks in the coolest looking car in the world (to me)

Hey Captain do you think there is a real chance that Haas hires Kubica as a development/Friday driver ? That is one of the rumors , I think Kubica could bring some stability to Haas in regards to chassis analysis/development .

He's obviously a talented driver but I'm not sure he'll still want to be in F1 driving in a room day after day

Maybe he will help Haas (they certainly need it) if he can find an outlet on track too, did read he might be competing in the DTM championship

I bumped into him one day at work and his arm is a real mess, amazes me he can drive a F1 car on track and be as fast as he is, especially considering the car he's driving

Typhoon headed towards Japan, might force sunday practice/qually/race... How does the weather dare mess with my F1 ? ;-)

On a serious note, I'm about to drop Comcast and will sub to the F1 pay streaming broadcast. Is any of you using it, is it better now ? How long after the race is the replay available ?

Again? I was wondering earlier this morning what weather disaster will hit for this year's race. We know how tragically the last typhoon ended for F1.

Go here:

You can watch it all live for $80 per year- and replays whenever you want. ESPN doesn't carry F1.

It dropped out during Baku and in Germany but they actually refunded money and apologized. Well worth it IMO.

F1 isn't on the main ESPN channel, but it is on ESPN2 or one of the other stations they have on cable. I stream the races from the App when I am not in front of the TV. I only wish they had a spoiler free section. I have to get my daughter to start the races for me so I miss any articles or short videos of race winner XYZ.

I stand corrected.....

FYI: I watch F1 live on Hulu via ESPN2.

GH85Carrera 10-08-2019 09:24 AM

The ESPN coverage is all just Sky Sports. They do OK, if the have some announcers that can speak some form of English. One of the Scottish guys is almost impossible to understand.

They have a TON of inside jokes with each other, and get into times where they are both talking at the same time, and then laughing like two guys at a bar drinking several pints of beer. Once again I wonder what was going on in the race, and not their banter.

The best part, is the race is broadcast with no commercials. The worst part is ESPN2 will cut off the post race interviews mid sentence to switch to a old low definition, football game from the early 1980s, or change to a high school football game from several years ago. I am always left wondering, if anyone at all cares about watching a game played 30 or 40 years ago.

Deschodt 10-08-2019 09:53 AM

I'll give the F1 streaming service a chance - I wouldn't mind picking my feed and seeing supercup races - also the replays would be good because I have no intention of getting up at 4AM ;-) I was wondering if it was over its teething problems, but I imagine most of you watch on TV like I did...

cairns 10-08-2019 10:02 AM

I think it's over its teething problems....I've been really enjoying it.

GH85Carrera 10-08-2019 07:10 PM

I record all three practice sessions, qualifying and of course the race. All recorded on my DVR, and watched at my schedule.

Typhoon looks like it's dead set on Suzuka. This should be interesting.

Here we go again. They need to change the date for this race to a different part of the year.

I think if Suzuka is cancelled, Hamilton is World Champion

Won have you spent your bonus yet?? ;)

Behind the scenes in the factory. This is the stuff Merc will show the world; I can't imagine what happens in http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1570827698.png!!

Racing at the top level of any pro series is now a science project first and foremost. Little wonder that the race itself is the least interesting part of the experiment.

yellowperil 10-12-2019 05:39 AM

updates??

From what I heard, looks like Susuka has missed or will miss this storm and Sunday might be good to go. Quali and race set for Sunday. Is that about right??
