Well the drivers' legs are no longer part of the crash structure. They were really exposed back then.

The hybrid drivetrains do not make the cars less compact.

The Ferrari illustration is jarring - I've never seen Lauda's 312T in any color other than red. The artist here has colored it DayGlo. Interesting, and wrong to my eyes.

(And wow, the increase in length in a modern chassis is remarkable, too. The 312T always looked almost square in plan view!!)

You are comparing it to the darker Ferrari's on either side.

If he'd included more Ferrari's it would be less harsh.

I read today that McLaren was The fastest on the day. Good news for them and I would go see them really race with a new motor and see Red Bull struggle with a bad motor.

Apparently Alonso is acting in a mentor role to the young Brit driver . It's WAY TOO early to make predictions but on paper it looks good so far . Big difference between testing and racing the first 3 - 4 races will show what the teams have . Pace is one thing , reliability and strategy are another .

It's sadly hilarious to see the emotional roller coaster fans are already on based on testing programs they have no insight into.

Deschodt 02-28-2019 07:39 AM

They all agree they are sandbagging, but...
- Renault is not blowing up engines
- Honda is not blowing up engines
- Ferrari looked fast
- Mercedes is not dominant yet.
- Alfa is looking decent !

Could be a fun year... The only certainty so far is Williams will be dead last.

I'm guessing Won is a bit busy at the moment, hope he's enjoying himself

Sadly, hilarious, well ha. I'm not basing my opinion on anything emotional, just going by times turned in. It's always fun this time of year to root for anybody other than Hammy\Vettal\Vercrashing. I can't wait to see the Red Bull cars expire like McLaren did last year.

I was not referring to here, but to a very popular, somewhat Brit-centric, racing forum.

I have not been following testing very closely, but it appears the general pecking order is still in play. Can't wait for Melbourne.

I'm gonna go on a limb and predict a Leclerc Win at Melbourne. The kid is the next world champion - maybe not this year but soon.

I don't know what I wish for more: Someone, anyone, other than Hamilton winning, or Redbull blowing up a motor at *every* race and being beaten by Renault, or a Renault engine (McLaren). Watching Max turn beet red after 4-5-6 blow ups in a row would be quite special. TV cutting to the smirking face to the renault team boss... Oh the possibilities.

Joking aside (Honda appears to have improved a lot), Motorsport mag did predictions on last year testing corrected for tires and adding all best sector times, and it was SPOT on. They did again this year and it looks like Ferrari does have an edge of 0.3 over Mercedes, then 0.2 over redbull, then it's everybody else in the same bracket, then Williamsm predictably.

Has it been confirmed that we're even getting F1 again this year in the states, with the same brit feed ? I'm tempted to try the Internet feed but not sure you can time delay those or if it is live only, anyone know ?

Is this just talk by Ferrari ? Wonder what Vettel thinks of this ?

Most F1 races will be on ESPN2 (including Melbourne), with ABC making up the difference. FORM1 Schedule | NBCSports
