Buc-ee’s
If you don’t know I’m sad for you.
Now to have the discipline to not eat all this jerky in one sitting. |
Thank you for your sympathy. I do not know about this "Buc-ee's"
|
We do not have them in Kalifornistan.

A Texas thing. It's like the old Stuckey's but on steroids. I stop there to use the restrooms on long trips. They are huge and always clean. No wait to take a leak.

I've been in texas for 24 years. I've never been in one and, I think, only saw one for the first time a few months ago as I drove past.
Enormous gas station/truck stop that sells tons and tons of food and other stuff. |

The Buc-ee's on IH10 in Katy has 120 gas pump stations... and every pump station offers the 3 grades of unleaded, diesel and 1 of 2 grades of ethanol free gas (premium or super premium). All the food ( a huge variety) is prepared on site when ordered... any thing from BLT's, burgers to BBQ... not exactly a vegan / healthfood type place however. |
They are not truck stops. They even have a sign saying "NO TRUCKS" however buses are welcome. Many years ago, a buddy and I would drag his boat down to Freeport, Texas to go fishing off shore. The original Buckey's was just north of there. It was a gas station/bait shop/continence store. Nothing special. Somehow it took off since then.
|
What is a continence store?
An incontinence store would sell all sorts of sanitary items , but does a continence store sell everything except those items? |

The first one I encountered was in Luling. There was also one on I-45 Madisonville. Now there are 2 on US-290, one on Telephone road and the ginormous one in Katy.
One of my buddies runs "Jet" in Germany. I met him when he was on assignment here in Houston. Anytime he is here with others, he takes them to Bucees. |
Oh and to sell ethanol free gas, you have to be outside certain counties which have EPA non-attainment status.

I find it incredible the number of vehicles in Texas with a Buc-ees sticker on the back. Easily seems as popular as the Local Sports Team. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice travel station and I dig the jerky, but I feel precisely zero need to identify with the brand. Same goes for Yeti stuff.
