These tiny electric cars are light on frills, but can take a family of three up to 75 miles on a single charge as long as they weigh under 1,000 lbs. They also take 10 hours to recharge and have a top speed of just 28 mph.

28 mph top speed kills it. More golf cart than car.

It says it has off-road capability, which is good because it wouldn’t be at all useful on just about any road in America.

I can’t tell if it’s 4wd, AWD or front drive or what.

$9,000 could get allot more vehicle than this thing, even if one intended it for a UTV or farm vehicle.

Verdict: if Musk is worried about this EV, he’s got bigger problems than even I imagined him having.

Musk is not worried about EV's.. as long as he can provide the electricity and storage needs for EV users. The old "I'll give away the razor, but you gots to pay for the blade"..

Considering what Musk did with his company's EV patents I'm going to say no.

He has other worries.

Musk's biggest hurdle is infrastructure.

The more EV's in the U.S., the less per EV that infrastructure costs.

I'd say these vehicles are not competitors.

I'd cheer for Musk and EV's if he didn't have his hands soo deep in tax payer pockets.

Should have stuck with Tesla being a luxury low volume brand until it could fund its own expansion.

Look at the balance sheets for Tesla. LOTS of loans and some are coming due. Wall street is not looking favorably at this time.

I recently read that VW’s EV charging infrastructure in the US will use Musk’s Power Walls.

I agree with others, this is an off-road farm hand or campus security vehicle in the US market.

I don't have a farm or ranch or live in a golf cart community, so that toy is of zero interest to me. I can't imagine using one of those to get farther away from the house than you are willing to walk back home. But that is just my view. A small gas powered vehicle is just as useless once it runs out of gas, but a few gallons of gas will get you a lot further than 75 miles round trip.

If there's still a tax credit for EV's, I might have to trade the side by side for one of these. The plus side would be, with an electric motor, I should be able to hear the radio while I'm driving.

If it could provide the same range and payload and hit 45 mph, then there might be a market.

Yep. Plus golf cart communities.
I don’t think Musk is worried. This isn’t his market.
They’ll have to make the cab bigger to sell in the US. In the pictures it looks uncomfortably tight for that little Asian guy.

There are cheaper solutions. We have about $2000 invested in our golf truck, including new batteries and the trailer.We run it all over our 5 acres and have never run the batteries down. It's very handy, and never runs out of gas.

I can these being used as rentals in Key West.

Maybe in golf course communities it will be popular too.

Good delivery vehicle for metropolitan areas. Needs 4-wheel steering to slide into impossible parking spaces. I was in the thick of Los Angeles yesterday and the parking for FedEx vans, etc., was ridiculous. I couldn't do that job to save my life.
