Stupid impulse purchases you refuse to apologize for

I just "won" an auction for a truly bizarre utility tractor I've wanted for a while. It's a German made [Max Holder] articulating 4WD narrow/mini tractor. It's powered by a ~50HP 3 Cyl turbo diesel and has front/rear PTO and half a million hyd remotes. It comes with a 6' wide front plow and a rear mounted hyd salt grinder box/spreader but you can mount just about any PTO/Hyd implement ever made for anything. Mowers, blowers, sweepers, chippers, etc...

It's goofy as all get-out to look at and that's a huge reason I like it. I'll be moving into my new construction home (with acreage) in a few weeks and the idea of tooling around in this oddity pretending to know what I'm doing just makes me smile. Laugh if you must but please share your similar purchases for entertainment

Gratuitous pic of the model. Think of it as a mini Unimog, they are unstoppable.

Why would you even think about apologizing for that piece of coolness...I love it.

50hp is a boat load, the only thing that will stop that thing is running out of gas.

Nice.

Absolutely correct, that's what we buy them for over here too but they are capable (and intended) for so much more. 50 turbo diesel HP in this tiny package is giggle inducing, I haven't been this excited about a purchase since my 930... good grief I'm getting old

My boys and I will go through every piece and panel (Tim Hancock style) over the next year or so and I'm trying to come up with a scheme that does the uniqueness justice. I'll just use it this winter but it's got a dedicated stall in the new garage for at least 16 months, the possibilities are endless

Absolutely, it's a Swiss Army knife kind of machine. Ive seen everything from buckets to tree trimmers to lord knows what. If it can run off PTO or Hydraulics (and doesn't need more than 50HP) you can make it work.

f course dedicated equipment is always better at the task but if you're not operating in volume this is your huckleberry.

The ridiculous number of hydraulic levers and switches is a bit intimidating but once I rationalized that maybe 30% of them will be in use at any given time it made for a much more comforting mood I'm sure guys that use this type of equipment everyday are belly laughing at me but I'm cool with that. So long as I don't drive it through any of my new home's walls I'll be happy
