Wife and I stayed at the Merritt House Inn, built in 1830, for the Monterey Historics one time. We hadn't heard anything about it being haunted but our first night there my wife woke up and saw a cloudy image in front of the window. She woke me up and I saw the same thing and noticed how cold it was in the room. The image slowly disappeared. We didn't sleep the rest of the night.
We met friends for breakfast in the morning and were telling them what we saw in our room. The waitress overheard our conversation and asked us if we were staying at the Merritt House and we told her that we were. She said she had heard the same story from other people many times over the years. |

I believe a lot of this is "sloppy" interpretation of the events.
"UFO" does not mean extra-terrestrial spacecraft, and "paranormal" does not mean ghost, spirit, specter, poltergeist, etc. Like ufo sightings reported as extra-terrestrials, many report paranormal activity as evidence of ghosts or the like. Paranormal means, "not able to be explained by science." I'm a firm believer in the paranormal, by that definition, as it does not preclude that science may eventually supply an explanation. None of this diminishes what Fred or anyone else experienced, it simply puts it into the category of paranormal. "Ghost" is an explanation without concrete, factual support. "Flying saucer" is an explanation without factual concrete support. "Paranormal" and "Supernatural" are not explanations, they are classifications. I would say we all have experienced some very odd, unexplained events. Have you ever stared intently at someone a short distance away--out of their line of vision--and had them suddenly turn an look at you? Or vice-versa? Have you ever been sitting quietly by your significant other, both deep in your own activity, and you say something and they respond that they were "just going to say that?" Or vice-versa? These are common experiences that no one deems more than "odd" or "weird" but still within the human realm, though unexplained except by theory. More extreme events, such as Fred described, fall far outside the common experience but, to me, only accentuates that science has a long way to go. And, if science can someday prove that ghosts and spirits do exist, then they will no longer be paranormal or supernatural activities. |
Yes.
And UFO's. Experienced both...and, no, I do not have fingerprints, DNA, glossy's, videotape or a Sport's Center Highlight. But trust me, I could not have wanted to be there for any of the shenanigans less, I am not a fourth dimension guy. |
Wasn't it Gogar that posted about the "presence" in the room that he felt?
|
There's one in my garage.......must be.
And he has a nice collection of my tools, nuts, bolts, C-clips, and my carpenters square i've been looking for. |
Does he have your 10mm socket?

I think I know why the entity is mad at me , and I left this part out.
I found something in that dark old basement that was really disturbing, and I did not want to share with you guys. |

You can't post that sort of thing and not share. |

I was trying to lite the pilot lite on the water heater, when I stumbled upon a 5 gallon bucket behind a little sub wall.
Some one, not sure who yet, has been taking a dump in the bucket and has not thrown it away. There were a good 3 or 4 sessions in there . I nearly hurled ... Im not sure who yet, but I have a good idea. Remember, we had no water for the first few weekends down there ... If I were a spirit living in the basement of that house, Id be haunting some people for sure .. It's not a joke though, all true. Those things did happen. Ill be on high alert for any more strange happenings, and see if I can catch the mad pooper |

There are some people who are hard and fast "NO they do not exist," because they stay in their box of limited perceptional reality. To that I say, "Horatio there is more between heaven and earth than meets the eye." Human perception and knowledge are limited, and to say it does not exist because you do not perceive it or know it, is well rather a foolish position to take. If that were what everybody thought humans would still be pounding two stones together to start a fire in a cave. Let us call them Neanderthals... Maybe we would be better off, because there would be no Global Warming...anyway I digress. Currently my dog will be sleeping on the sofa next to me during the evening..then every once in awhile he will jump straight up like something poked him jump off the sofa and start barking hysterically in the direction of the sofa..why he does that mystify s me.. I have often thought it could be my last dog Zoe which is letting her presence be known? Who knows? I have had an experience that defied any logical explanation, where the owners of the old home which is a Bed & Breakfast say there is a ghost in the house of a previous woman owner who died in the house in 1923. Anyway to hand, with the OP's original post.. I would try talking to the ghost saying I take it that you don't like me being here? Is it that I am disturbing something, you don't like change or are trying to show me something? I mean no harm and am here at the behest of the new owners to do a job. Who knows maybe the ghost will even start to hand you your tools as needed? I guess it is called being open to possibilities... |
Yes. Lived in a haunted house.
|
Tabs too late, I already told them that this is my house now . And unless you sign a lease and pay me, you cant stay here .
I'm really toughening up on this landlording thing. No more freeloaders. Period.... |
I believe, but I don't expect anyone to believe me.
I saw things move. I heard footsteps. I heard distinct and identifiable noises. I heard a voice use my name, but not in the way I am usually called. These were repeated, consistent, and several times independently corroborated, although no one other than me heard a voice. About all I can say is, I have definitely been in the presence of something else, and I knew it about as confidently as if someone had walked into the room and said hello. And I had a strong sense it was female. I wasn't afraid of it. But I can tell you that I was very very concerned on a couple of occasions that I was about to witness something that I simply could not handle. Logically and objectively, it makes no sense to me now. But you know what? It didn't then either. |
And so begins the mystery of the mad pooper!
|
Another possibility...............
These events and sightings could be being caused by alternate universes occasionally getting tangled up with each other. Just enough overlap to see or hear things that should not be there! I'll let the theoretical physicists take it from here!

I think a friendly or benevolent attitude of humility towards something you do not understand might have been a better approach...better to have a friend than enemy.. I would like to see you try and evict a ghost... |
