Lseat.com boxster install
Installing Lseat leather on boxster seats. These 22 yr old seats had seen better days. Rip in leather and cushion compressed:

Lseat doesnt offer Porsche colors; this is their closest match. Whoever does this for a living will get massive arthritis. After 20 min of pulling, massaging, and kneading it still looks hopeless. The past 3 or 4 days Iv been upgrading the rear brakes of my jeep from 9" to 10" self adjusting ones from a later cj. It was needed anyway one of the cyls was leaking bad and the shoes were pretty worn. I already did 11" ones on the front years ago. Then I made some wheels for my scrap trailer the old ones are 14" and the new ones 16" this will allow for more height and load capacity. I overload the old ones every time I use it they are only rated for 1100lbs each and the new ones are 1600.But the offset was way wrong thats why it took me 5 years to get around to this. Waxed cotton is so cool, but it sucks, but it is so cool!
At the end of the day, these $500 jackets are just cotton weenies coated in a thick wax to make them feel sturdy. After several years, even with upkeep, they shred.Therefore, I am a reverse Magnus Walker. He fixed up clothes, got rich, and then bought p-cars. I have p-cars and now fix up clothes, and will be poor. Oh well, what the hell! I'm having fun :) I tried to stitch the cotton with a continuous suture, but it was so weak it tore, so I'm going to contact cement leather patches and have the most bad ass waxed cotton jacket in history!!! I have several Barbour jackets. After 30 years still almost perfect but I’ve sent them back for repair. I usually wax them myself but for repairs they do excellent work….not cheap but worth it depending on how much you like your jacket

Bought a Bose Wave CD Radio off FB Marketplace for $40. Left channel was blown, so I got a new used speaker off eBay. Wow, now I have bass! Apparently, the left channel is where the bass tubes are, but you need to have the correct side speaker for it to work. Tested to see if the speaker was bad and that was the problem. Gotta love a $9 fix.
Also, fixed the auto headlights on my S4. The original one had a bad gel pad, so I changed that, and it still didn't work. Finding the correct sensor is a giant PITA because Audi/VW used many different iterations of the same part number. Pulled the mirror and got the part#, got a used/tested one off eBay and installed it last night. Voila! I have auto headlights again for $40. Much better than the $300+ for a new part. |
Over the years I’ve picked up some interesting Navy hardware. Not really a collector per se but, some of it is just too cool to pass up.
So, the new project is supposedly a CDC battle station clock. Bought it with the cut cord. A couple of the hands need the paint touched up and the second hand is wound with wire?? Might be the way that the hands are illuminated, a reactive paint?? Don’t know yet. Need to do a little more research but the clock has a warning to not touch the hands when energized! I was asked to help hang some closet doors. $1800 doors, they probably weigh 100# per door, working space is super tight and the "client" (my friend) is REALLY fussy, so this had to be as close to mistake free as I'm capable of.
The trickiest part was plowing a plunged groove into the bottom for the guide. I didn't want the groove to pierce the vertical door edges, so careful stopping and starting was as critical as centering the groove. I set up a test rig at home to figure out the tooling, did a few dry runs on some scrap and moved the whole circus (or 'zarkus'; my friend is a native German from Berlin). It worked! She's pleased, the doors are hung and roll on their tracks perfectly and I'm happy that I can still actually devise a plan and execute it to a satisfactory result. Not perfect, but I won't point out the flaws. Working on the axle and swingarm for my Kawasaki 200 3 wheeler im converting to a 2 wheeler. Lots of grinding welding and staring. I think its going to look wide and a little weird on the chain side because of the jackshaft but im trying to slim it down as much as possible.
