When I looked out this morning, I saw one of the two posts supporting the awning on the south side of the barn had been dislodged at its base. Likely by the Icelandic mare having a scratch. The base of the 25 year old pressure treated post had rotted.
So a quick trip into town for a couple of new posts and precast footings happened. The tractor supported the eave while I was digging out the old sonotube footings and setting the new ones. Done in an hour and a half. I shouldn't have to mess with that again if it lasts as long as the first ones. |
Continuing maintenance
Replaced all belts and tensioner. Stretch belts are fun to replace http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1759885456.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1759885480.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1759885497.jpg |

Today my once a year challenge monitor 7 yard workers and a chipper for one day. What they do in one day would take me 3 months. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1759898383.jpg |

So I inherited an f150... the donor trans and motor are in the chassis. The issue is Ford roof paint.... it sux. I ground the rotten paint off and most of the rust... neutralized the rest with ppg one choice. And squirted it all down with epoxy primer. Tomorrow it'll get some of my signature dump paint. A couple roof dents but nothing im feeling ambitious about repairing.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1760752743.jpg

Guy, that cowl is fantastic. It's such a beautiful design, and you are making it look better than new.
What is dump paint? A mix of the leftovers? |

Race cars come apart so easily makes them fun and easy to work on.
Now it goes to the race shop to reweld and gusset the Watts link brackets. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1760797243.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1760797253.jpg |

I had the pleasure of testing about a mile of electric fence to determine where the open circuits were. Most of the fence is 30 years old so the fine copper filament woven into the nylon braid is showing its age. Found and fixed three spots so we're back to 4-5000 volts everywhere.

The 2010’s F150 have a habit of when you press the volume button on the steering wheel. It changes channels. I replaced those switches and the clock spring, since I was so close. Pictures of disassembly. Assembly is the reverse.
It was weird, that the steering wheel shaft was not splined. Also took a look at the radiator fans. With the AC on, the fan was cycling on high every 20 seconds or so. Looking at the relays, I found that one of the low speed relay pins was bent and not making contact. Then when I started the truck up, one of the fans was barely turning and making a scraping noise. I have a new one on order. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1760925075.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1760925075.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1760925075.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1760925075.jpg |
Valve cover gaskets on 2006 Subaru Forester XT. Passenger side went pretty easy. Drivers side has almost zero room...
I will probably have to unbolt all the motor mounts and jack up the engine to get some clearance. Maybe Subaru isn't as symmetrical as they claim? :p |
I painted my dinning room this weekend. I only have 8 more rooms to paint :(

Wow, you guys are killin it, all I have done was refurbish an old fishing reel. I found this reel that belonged to my Pawpaw in the boathouse Saturday. It is a Bronson Dart No.905 and was manufactured from 1960-1967. It was seized up when I found it so when I took it apart, I sprayed some PB Blaster in the handle shaft and worked it free and now it is working like new again. Other than being seized up and dirty, it was in good shape and will be added to my collection. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b849b8e384.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...918e80948d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cb4726d70a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4dd540ee6f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4bf172cfa6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...35fca860c2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9c03bb1027.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c02e6cd807.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d9edc34eb0.jpg
