I love my wifes family .

When they leave .
Apparently , at 49 years old, I need to be told how to peel, and slice potatoes, how to feed my son, and how to remove the ham from the pan, and slice it .
I thought I was doing pretty well, but it must have been obvious that I was ready to hurt my self , and completely incompetent for the job at hand .
Bye Felicia !
I don't drink anymore, but I am fixing a nice tall jim and coke right now. That was a really long day .
Happy Easter fellas.

I LOVE family get together days....mainly because we don't do 'em. I was an only child, Cindy is estranged from her brother the religious con man, and our daughter lives in Wyoming. Both sets of parents dead. So, just the two of us.

I feel sorry for all currently going through the criticism from in-laws...

No good deed goes unpunished (?)

I worked on home projects today and just finishing up a few minutes ago said to myself (in a satisfactory tone) my how nice it was to get a good day's work done on a holiday!

The significance to your post Fred, is I was supposed to participate in a family function - but called in sick!

The weather today was PERFECT for working outside too.

My wifes family is coming tomorrow! I love them. I get along better with them well. Way better than my own dysfunctional soul sucking family.

I can’t wait. They are here for a month.

Anyone who stands in your kitchen and tells you what to do should take cover.... family or not...

Cheers

My wife's grandmother (who no one likes) called last night at 9:45 and asked what we were having for lunch...we had plenty, but hadn't invited her due to the drama, and "helpful hints" she always has to share. We told her 1:00, and she showed up at 12:15 and stayed all day in my chair, complained about the saltiness of the food, and was the last to leave while *****ing about our Aussie, who bit (only person he has ever bitten) her 3 years earlier. Good riddance.

Happy Easter to everyone too. I got to enjoy some peace & quiet today and watch the Warriors grab their 3rd win from the Clippers...and not a relative in sight!

Yep it's nice to avoid all the drama and just enjoy the day/weekend, the hardest thing I have had to deal with today was changing a brake light bulb on my wife's car.
Happy Easter!!!

Family from up north are like hemorrhoids.
If they come down, and go right back up- not too bad.
If they come down and stay down. They are a pain in the a$$

Agreed! I’ll take my in-laws any day over my own.

We had a quiet Easter. Just my wife and I, and we had my 94 yr. old dad up for dinner. Dad told us how he spent Easter 74 years ago, on April 1 1945, as part of the amphibious invasion of Okanawa. No complaints here.

Hear, Hear! I literally cannot stand my own family--do not talk to them. My in-laws (all of them; sisters/brother, their spouses and my wife's parents) are all great people. I truly enjoy being around them.

Oh man, you shoulda been at my family Easter dinner this year at my Brother/s house. His grandkids, with boy and girl friends totalled 14. Sister in law came up a game for them between dinner and desert.

They put posit-notes on the floor in a big cricle numbered from 1 to 14. The grandkids/friends hopped from post-it to post-it while they played Gene Autrys "Here comes Peter Cotton tail" When the music stopped they pulled a number out of a hat and there person on that Post-it note got the easter basket with that number. But before the got the easter basket they had to perform the challendge inside the plastic egg. Then the cake-walk style hopping and number pulling picked the next basket participant

The challenges were all kinds of entertaining acts from opening a package of candy with only their teeth, or eating a cup of applesause with no hands, to eating 3 hot hot wings, to playing a tune drumming on their butt until someone else guessed the tune. One even tried the eating a tablespoon of dry cinnamon. It was hilarious!

Family holiday dinners changed when my parents passed on. They became contentious, some stopped coming all together and the older we got, the more distant we become. Life changes things.

Greek Easter is this coming Sunday and my brother is spending time with his children and grandchildren. I'm single - both my sons have moved away. My cousins invited me for Easter dinner - I'm going to pass on it. I plan on attending Church services. I'm trying to find alternatives.

Some people brighten a room when they enter it.....others when they leave.

onewhippedpuppy 04-22-2019 06:03 AM

Oh yeah I forgot, my wife is the oldest of 10 and most of them now have kids. So we drink a lot.:D
