Other than that, I’m happy with most of the machinery in my life.

You got me hooked on the espresso over ice!

I am brand new to shooting. My son loaned me a Sig P226 to take a class and some lessons with. It was great, if not a touch big. Picked up a 229 I got on sale. Took it for a spin yesterday. Pretty happy so far.

Chrome messenger bag. Was looking at it the other day and realized the thing has been in daily use for twenty years.

Neumann KH150. Aint much to look at. A bit pricy perhaps. Really fantastic performance and convenient with amps, eq, dsp all built in.

My Klipsch powered subwoofer.

I'm always looking for a good grill brush but can't seem to find one I really like.... until now. The wire ones have the potential to leave small pieces of wire on the cooking grates. I found the "bbq daddy" from Scrub Daddy and was going to order one, but came across this one at Lowes so I snagged it.

recently gave up on the big box brands and went with Speed Queen as well. pricey and looks ancient but 7 year warranty. First couple washes I was like 'oh yes, this was the right choice'.

teen daughter saw it and thought we had gone broke and bought an old used washer.

cabmandone 08-21-2025 06:50 AM

^^^ I've got one of the non water saver, top load, Speed Queen washers. Mine has knobs, none of that fancy electronic stuff for me! My dryer did lose a bearing but I was able to replace it easy enough. They are built like a tank.

speeder 08-21-2025 11:43 AM

Top-loading agitator washers are so much better than new front-loaders, it's not even funny. Also, you can pause in the middle of the agitation and just let it soak for 30 minutes if you want by opening the hatch.

Another feature, as long as you use it frequently, is that if you run an A/C unit or dehumidifier in the summer that fills up buckets of water and you hate to just dump it down the drain, you can pour it into the resting washer and it will be there ready when you want to do a load. A Scottish friend who is cheap as they come taught me that one when we were young stoners but it's actually clever and I hate to waste water. My portable A/C unit in my apartment is filling buckets quickly right now, (we're in a heat wave), it kills me to dump it down the sink but I don't have a washer like that to put it in. :(

This tool is so satisfying.

If you do any woodworking, for quick and accurate material removal, this Shinto saw-rasp is the cats meow. It's everything you wanted the Stanley Sur-form file to do, but the Shinto actually does what it's supposed to. The Sur-form is always a disappointment, even with a fresh blade.

I wish there was a speed queen equivalent for fridges. Modern fridges seem about as reliable as vintage Italian cars, and vintage fridges went forever.

I know there are commercial fridges but they are very loud.

berettafan 08-21-2025 03:08 PM

Yes had that same conversation the other day! Where is the speed queen fridge? dishwasher?

This is controversial but older (20 years) Sub Zeros can't be beat and are easy to work on if need be. From my thread on getting one:

This is one reason I got a Sub Zero, easy to work on and also worth working on vs replacing. The one I got, the freezer compressor was replaced a year ago. Owner didn't know if or when the fridge compressor had been but we both thought a 25 year old fridge would have had a new compressor by now.

Fridge stopped cooling well a few days ago. Lot of research, with Youtube degree in hand, $28 later it's back to work. The compressor was original made in September 2000.

When it finally quits, an original entire kit goes for $500. Just need to braze in the lines and the dryer, and it will last another 25+ years. Cant beat the access, can't imagine being a regular fridge tech crawling around on dusty floors.

I bought two of the green “commercial grade” garden hoses from Costco. They are so stiff and difficult to use that I bought the kink resistant one from them. 100 times more user friendly. I told Costco about my dissatisfaction with the green ones and they told me to bring them back for a refund. I love Costco!

Not super recent, but I bought these for trackdays so my hands didn't sweat to death in my fire retardant gloves. I absolutely love them, super breathable and they transmit the feel of the steering wheel perfectly with good grip. I really, really like them.

They look pretentious as ****, but that comes second to having good, non-sweaty grip on a steering wheel.

^ You need a set of those blue Dunlop overalls to go with the stringbacks.

Here is another thing I got recently that I give rave reviews to - this little handheld blower. It's surprisingly powerful, no need to get out the compressor for little things like blowing out the razor or dust in the vents of stereo gear and the like.

Go to Planet Farm or Torque Test Channel and check the reviews. I didn't know how useful this would be around the home, but now that I have it I find myself reaching for it daily.

Interesting. I usually just keep a few cans of canned air around the house. I order it from Amazon. I just got a 4pack the other day or I might be ordering one of ^those^.

Correct, the flexible panels, charge controller and shunt all ties into the app so I can track the history. So far it has everything charged by 9am so I am not sure how it will do, but it has the Maxxair fans set to a temp since they are thermostatically controlled. Keeps the ambient light on inside and the outside entry light on all night.

It hasn't been plugged in since I got 2 panels on. It is hooked to 2 200ah LiFePo batteries. Will find out how well they do when we get the 12v compressor fridge. Right now they run everything, including the inverter, for an approximate 70 hours before needing to recharge. Solar just does everything including the float without me having to plug in. Unless I want A/C, then I need shore power. For now! The trailer draws 23a at the outlet with the A/C running. New inverter style units are out so we are waiting to get some long term reviews before we pull the trigger on one of those.

masraum 08-22-2025 09:16 AM

Good stuff. Thanks for sharing!

flipper35 08-22-2025 09:57 AM

All our stuff goes on/in this cabinet other than the batteries. Need to build or 3D print in wood some channels to hide the wires.

For you or the patient?

masraum 08-22-2025 10:21 AM

For $10k, do they come with a happy ending?

Tobra 08-22-2025 10:35 AM

Patient, there are preset positions on them, 750# capacity. Old chairs were only good up to 300#

Yes, it comes up

Wife kind of freaked out a little. $9800 is not too bad I guess. Baby, that is each. $20,000! How long are you going to have to work to pay those off. I wrote a check, when was the last time you remember me buying anything? Second hand car 10 years ago. She has no idea what our financial situation is.

Baz 08-22-2025 10:48 AM

Bought a banana today at Walmart. It was delicious! And only 14 cents.....
