Fun stuff for the day after Luftgekuhlt for my boy and me?
I am bringing my 76 930 to Luftgekuhlt 6 next week. My 8 year old son will be coming with me.
The day after the show, we are planning to go to Legoland or Disney or something. We would prefer not to go to Disney without my wife and daughter... What are your thoughts? What should we do on the Sunday before we head home? We could spend an extra day if it made sense. |
You could go to the Cape and do the space tour there. Or the Fantasy of Flight air museum is pretty good too.
Maybe not ideal for an 8 yo. But possibly. Are you driving your car down for the event? Should be a fun one. Cheers Richard |
You are driving the 930 down? That's a long way in a 930.
I say Disney instead of Legoland. The lines are ridiculously long in Disney last time I went few years back when my kids were small. At 8, he may start to outgrow Legoland. Disney has so much more to do and I believe its more expensive too and the long lines sure suck. We got on 9-10 rides the whole day because of it. Go early and soak it in before the mad crowds get there. |

You could just stay in the Valley and do the actual Universal Studios thing.

Hope you got your tickets already because it's sold out!

I am undecided if we are driving or trailering. The car is rock solid so it will easily make the trip. It comes down to comfort for the 1250 miles each way. To be clear, we are going to LA. We have been to Disneyworld twice before. This would be a Disneyland if we went. |

Agree with slodave you are already at Universal just spend the day there its a fun time. Disneyland will be a nightmare.

I would be fun to drive to the Malibu or San Bernardino mountains and do some of the mountains and canyons. Lots of great rides.

Universal is fun, but not disney fun. Just different but not bad neither. |
Thanks guys.
I think we will do universal and maybe go check out the beach before we head home. The next decision is whether we trailer it or drive it. The car is capable of the drive but that is a long ride in a 43 year old car. Plus I’d have to detail it before the show (the car will be on display). |
It depends on how pristine you want to keep your car. I saw a couple of Porsche 356s two years ago in Jasper with California plates. It is great to see them being used on long road trips.
|
Drive it! You can’t buy those sorts of memories. You and your son will remember it forever.

Do universal studios on Saturday afternoon. Then get up early- go to Super car Sunday at Pierce College Sunday morning. Pick up a route map there- and check out some of our local mountain roads on your way to the beach. Spend a lazy afternoon at the beach or various beach area eateries

Is your kid big into amusement parks, movies etc.? Is that what he is really interested in? I find that a bit of a shame considering what else there is to do in LA!
Why not hit the roads with the car and visit some of the sightseeing spots overlooking the city, the HOLLYWOOD sign, Santa Monica pier, Malibu, Mulholland, Nike missile base, Getty Museum etc.? Further south you can go to San Pedro Cabrillo Aquarium (free), Long Beach, see the harbor, Battleship Iowa... in LA there is a ton to do as well - you can go to the La Brea tar pits (any interest in prehistoric animals?) and LA county museum of art on the same campus, hit Koreatown and hit a traditional restaurant there... endless options ...
