Strangest thing you've experienced today?
I'll start:
Today I impulsively stopped and went for a long walk around the river with the dog. It was maybe a mile mile or two. While we were on the trail a young black woman jogger passed by. She had long legs and a great stride. Her big hair was tied back and she was wearing black spandex leggings with bright rainbow stripes down the sides. The dog and me finally got back to the car and drove off, but about another mile away on the other side of a busy 4-laner I saw her again jogging fast towards my car from the other side of the street. She kept looking back and then running faster. Why? Then I saw it: A wild turkey was chasing her in town. Now son, I have seen plenty of wild turkeys in my day before but I have never never seen anything like that one. This was not any turkey. It was literally the size of a freaking ostrich with stumpy legs. If you take any regular turkey and multiply it by 5 or 10 you might be getting closer to the true size of that one. Think Jurassic Park okay. The shoulders were probably four feet high and with head it would top six feet easy. I kept driving because the drama had passed behind me but it will not be anything to forget soon. |
Ok, a 6 foot turkey. Yea, sure that’s the ticket. Right.
|
It was at least double the size of this one and a tom.
No kidding. I woulda ran too. https://www.clickondetroit.com/all-about-ann-arbor/aggressive-wild-turkey-chasing-attacking-residents-of-ann-arbors-north-side http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1558490278.jpg |

Maybe it was one of those cassowary things
Wiki: “The first documented human death caused by a cassowary was on April 6, 1926. In Australia, 16-year-old Phillip McClean and his brother, age 13, came across a cassowary on their property and decided to try to kill it by striking it with clubs. The bird kicked the younger boy, who fell and ran away as his older brother struck the bird. The older McClean then tripped and fell to the ground. While he was on the ground, the cassowary kicked him in the neck, opening a 1.25 cm (0.5 in) wound that may have severed his jugular vein. The boy died of his injuries shortly thereafter.[38] Cassowary strikes to the abdomen are among the rarest of all, but there is one case of a dog that was kicked in the belly in 1995. The blow left no puncture, but there was severe bruising. The dog later died from an apparent intestinal rupture.[38] Another human death due to a cassowary was recorded in Florida on April 12, 2019. The bird's owner, 75-year-old Marvin Hajos, who had raised the animal, was apparently clawed to death after he fell to the ground.” |
Sadly, with no natural predators, the rise in velociraptor attacks in only going to get worse.

I was changing the dressing on this diabetic crackhead today and he was not abusive or profane and actually apologized for being an a-hole to me and the nurse who was in the room at the time.
Probably the strangest thing in a month. |
Are you sure that wasn't an emu? Because your description kinda sounds like an emu...
|
No, he was definitely a crackhead

Strangest thing today was going from dreaming to being fully awake. I will never know what happened to the flying monkeys.

The strangest thing I experienced today was visiting PPOT and perusing the picture threads without seeing multiple posts of the same image, by the same person, on each of them.
Oh, and Tobra--you win the "coffee out my nostrils" award for the day! That is good stuff. |
I question the size reported.
Turkey live in a pecking order. This one seems to have had previous humans back down when they meet. He is just showing his dominance as top tom. He will be in that same area most days. Go back to the area at about the same time without the dog and get a vid of him getting after you. You might try puffing up and being aggressive to back him down. If you back down and run he will turn into the dominant big top from hell. |

Funny of the day! |
I called up a friend today and he answered this is Frank. I said there was no Frank here and hung up. My Mother does not like me talking to strangers.

So, I was sitting outside at a beach-side cafe having coffee this morning and two women walk by. One has a full-grown goat on a leash and the other is carrying a smaller goat in her arms. Taking your goat to the beach...not an everyday occurrence...even around here.
