Tire rack, mobile tire installer easy peasy
 

Last Thursday i ordered new Michelin pilot tires for the wife's car.
On sale for $627 delivered. Can't beat that.
I had them shipped to a mobile installer, Gotires in midway city (Huntington beach).
The next morning I get a call from GoTires saying the tires were delivered overnight and asking when and where I wanted them installed. We agreed to 2:30 pm that same day at my house.
Then they called back and said they had a cancellation and 1:30 was open, even better.

The guy showed up at exactly 1:30 and in less than an hour was done, and threw in road force balancing if I promised to give them positive feedback.

This was the third time I had bought tires from tire rack and had them shipped to a mobile installer: once for my old pickemup, one for my daughter's car, and this one. All without a hitch. Total cost was $735.
I figured I saved at least $300 and a couple hours of time.

Used GoTire many times, really nice guys and quick. Worth the money versus my time for certain things. The only complaint is they have grown so fast, it's sometimes hard to get them when you want them

my Michelintires from Costco have crazy retard strength. they might have 75,000 miles on them and i swear they are at 50%. i want them to die at this point!! so bored with them.

I have a great relationship already built with a local tire shop. He did my last 3 sets for my work truck.

I'm always interested in saving money - but having a long standing relationship with a local shop is also of value.

I've been using Tire Rack for years. I have the tires sent directly to a recommended installer nearby that provides installation cost up front, so no surprises when I bring the car in. Shipping and a 2-year road hazard warranty are also included free of charge.

I started using tire rack and a mobile installer for exactly the opposite reason. I had four local installers that I hated going to:

1) a goodyear place that cross threaded two lug nuts and ran them all the way down with the impact and denied it when they couldn't get them back off. Daniel tires in orange.

2) a firestone clown shop where i told then NOT to do anything except patch the tire. but they couldn't do that, No. They had to do the 50 point inspection trying to upsell.
But the jackwad missed the dipstick hole with the dipstick. My daughter (or wife, can't remember) was driving to Fresno and called and said her car smelled like smoke. Nice. Firestone in Orange, don't go near there.

3) an independent shop that I couldn't trust because they were always trying to sell cheap Chinese crap tires to customers. Eberhardt tires in Fullerton.

4) many moe and jack who screwed up the valve stems on THREE rims causing me to take the car back three times because of slow leaks. Also in Orange on Katella.

I was so fed up I was looking for other options and found one i am really happy with.

Thank you for the info. I have 2 tires en route and I was wondering who I would have do the install. Local tire shop that I would buy new tires from normally will match price and then charge around 125 for 4 mounts and balance. Not too hard to negotiate a Road Force if I buy and have the tires installed there. They usually want another 15 per tire for the RF.

Are there others in this mobile game? Also, what about your neighbors when the impact gun comes out? We have a nasty old snitch that would call out the city if I were to do an oil change in the street (which I don't do because I don't live in a town where you might see cars parked in the front yard)(Well, there are large towns around here where that happens Compton anyone?).

I also have a great mechanic (different shop) who can do anything on any vehicle - motorcycle, Porsche, work truck.

And trust me when I say a day doesn't go by that I'm not grateful!

I also use tire rack for the parts chaser, but I have them drop shipped to my local wrench.

We have a tire machine at the shop but that kills me to hear that you guys have neighbors that have issues with simple stuff.
My neighbors have all kinds of motorized equipment. Motorcycles, backhoes, boats, ect and they are cool about helping me out when I ask.
Get a 914 chassis out of a truck and run it up the hill to my workshop, no problem, i'll be right over.

Color me jealous, if i had a good local shop I could rely on I would be totally loyal to it too.
But I only know of one real repair shop close by (olive garage) and they're so busy it can take a week or two to get an appointment.
Other than that we have pep boys, midas, and tire chain franchises who hire $15 an hour mechanics.

Tire rack provided many choices of mobile installers. Gotires was the most affordable.
$108 for four tires with road-force balance, and disposal etc. No extra fees.
I believe they have a $70 minimum to show up tho. Prolly not worth it for just two tires.

The compressor in the truck wasn't loud at all, and he used a battery-powered impact on the wheels. But he used a real torque wrench to do the final tightening.
I had the car in the middle of the garage when he worked on it.
