Mouse dependent or lots of keystrokes?

I think my wife is mouse dependent while I almost exclusively use strokes like Control-C and Control-V as well as Alt-Tab.

I'm faster and can't type for siht.

Accurate typing is easy for some. I use some keyboard shortcuts, but there are many more.

One thing that every single TV or movie gets wrong is the "computer expert" typing at a near superhuman key banging rate, and they never ever even once use the backspace key, rarely the space bar or the enter key, and never ever uese the mouse. And often they just type on the center row of keys. But they can work magic on the computer.

Most IT experts (just about anything "hackery") probably do most of their work via CLI (mostly Linux/Unix based, or even OSX) anyway so not much mousing would be required (especially when you consider that if they are on a box with a GUI there are probably keyboard shortcuts to nearly eliminate the need for the mouse).

But yes, what is shown on TV or movies for hacking and computer stuff is usually pretty silly and unrealistic.

Hah! And same with texting phones but I have seen some pretty fancy texting from the young uns. But you're right, even on TV texting they seem to go left thumb, right thumb back and forth with neither one going to the space button.

Once before I brought this up and someone suggested that I get a programmable gaming keyboard so all the common shortcut keystrokes are in one region. Turned out they were pricey.

it always drives me crazy to see someone playing DOOM with a mouse.
I always use the keyboard.
Wait what were we talking about?
