I have been mooned by girls in cars while driving on 2 occasions before... but that's not what this post is about.
For many years, I worked for a large multinational oilfield services company, headquartered in Calgary. We were doing a prequalification audit for Kuwaiti Oil Company. We didn't really know what to expect for the prequal audit, but had planned to spend day 1 doing presentations on our company and technology followed by a lab tour through our R&D center where we developed cement blends, frac chemistry, etc and a tour through the downhole tool and completions R&D center that I built. Day 2 involved touring our operations bases in Red Deer (100 miles north of Calgary).
Day 1 went OK, the BD guy who took care of MENA flew over from Aberdeen and did his presentation, I did my presentation, and then our visitors said they had seen enough for the day. We had brought in a Halal meal for them and everything. We wondered if we had somehow offended them. We got out of them that they were impressed with what we had to offer and just wanted to go see the Manchester united soccer game.
I loaded them into the company Yukon and off we headed to the Shark Club, a sports bar with HAWT waitressed and the largest screen in Calgary. This was EXACTLY what they wanted. My intuition was perfect. Wefollowed up the game and lunch with the lab tours as planned.
For day 2, we headed to Red Deer for the operations tour. As expected, they selected equipment in the yard at random and wanted to see the maintenance records and preventative maintenance schedule. At lunch, we had a minor hickup when the other guys who joined us for lunch grabbed all of the roast beef sandwhiches leaving only ham for us and our guests. We TOLD the admin who ordered in lunch, NO PORK!
The ride home is where things got interesting. I was the only local in the Yukon, our BD guy was from Scotland and our 3 guests were from Kuwait. This girl in a black Dodge 3/4 ton kept driving beside me and waiving at me. I would switch lanes, she would come up on the other side... I sped up, she sped up, I slowed down, she slowed down. Our friends asked me if I knew her, I didn't.
She made a number of suggestive hand signals, let herself up many times, etc. The guys told me that if I pulled over to talk to her, it wouldn't make it in the report. I didn't.
Just before we got to Calgary, up came her shirt. We all got an interesting view. She then followed us all the way downtown but turned off just before we got to the hotel where these guys were staying.
Pretty weird. This was the one day, I didn't welcome this sort of Canadian hospitality.
We passed the prequal audit.
