In my youth, I only stole a few times to recover from friends what had been taken from me. I regret it.
(that list was a manuscript fwiw)

Then one time at summer camp a friend handed me a pack of smokes to take in a small shop while he got a tape.
We were caught and spent a long long day in the local pokie with no food or water.
The cops rightfully gave us crap the entire time and it was expensive and suxed.
Lesson learned.

If it costs taxpayers for the cops to show up, it should cost the guilty more, just imo.

The police showed up. She ended up paying for the entire cake.

Her punishment, if you can it that, was being banned from a Wal Mart.

While at the local Whole Foods market recently, I saw a normal-looking, middle-aged woman fix herself a large salad from the takeout counter, then proceed to wander up & down the asiles while eating it. Once finished, she ditched the box and calmly walked out of the store. I mentioned this to a supervisor/manager who said, "Yeah, we know all about her...must be off her meds today."
