No fun for you!
 

We're not allowed to have fun anymore. I was talking to my neighbor who's daughter just finished her first year at UCSB (That would be Santa Barbara for you east coasters and the Swede.) I asked her if it was still a fun party school like when I went there in the early 80s. (My neighbor went there too.) She said, no way. The cops crack down on any hint of a party in Isla Vista, and the traditional Halloween craziness is now totally banned, with a 10 o'clock curfew.

Meanwhile, The California Coastal Commission is moving to ban vehicles on the beach and dunes at Pismo Beach.

I'm glad I had my fun when I had the chance.

The two big state schools here in Oklahoma changed back and forth which school was considered the party school and which was serious study every several years.

The world does seem to have gotten more serious lately. I find myself doing far fewer self indulgent, time wasting things like going to ball games, autocrossing, car shows, etc.

My daughter has not had even close to the fun that I had when I was her age in college.
I think it's a good thing.

If I had kids...they would NOT be attending college....oh HELL NO :)!!!

I think after decades of trying to "one up" the previous generation, things maybe got out of hand and we are seeing an over correction?

Or it could be they are realizing they are going into a lifetime of debt if they dont take it serious and get something out of their time there?

My oldest is 15, poor SOB can’t get away with anything. Everybody has a phone or camera, everything gets posted online, my wife can check his location via GPS, cops don’t ever just give kids a break and a ride home, etc. Being a little a$$ is part of being a teenager , I think that’s why you see a lot of kids going to college and then going crazy.
