They make great hanging basket planters... drill a few holes attach some chain or cable... put dirt and flowers in them. :)

I saw a few of these on the web, and they are pretty cool...but not enough light for plants in most mancaves or garages (where a repurposed helmet would compliment the decor...so I like the artsy lamp ideas better.

My friend had one that he used a drill on to swiss cheese it a bit, sprayed the outside black and the inside silver and put an old disco light in it. Full face with the visor, worked pretty well.

Apparently if you're travelling North on 81 you strap it loosely to your bike causing me to have to swerve in my 911 to avoid hitting it when it falls off.

In the "olden days" didn't they toss them onto the median at the state line when traveling from a state with no helmet law into a state that had helmet laws (i.e. traveling from Az to Ca) for other riders to use?

There seems to be a big market for them on the west coast. Don't drill/cut them up. Sell them on Craigslist. https://seattle.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=helmet

The scooter crowd doesn't need a current SFI date. Most don't wear a helmet but they damn well should. In a colder climate I would welcome a full face helmet.

There are 1248 listings here in greater LA for "helmet."

I have a couple Bell full face left, one from about 1971, a helmet bag, a Ken Maley Steel shoe for short track, half mile and mile, some other MC stuff.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1562195033.JPG

^^^^ I have a Bell full face helmet as well from about 71. The foam inside has fallen apart and the visor tintened some.

It’s amazing how small the eye port is compared to my newer Bell helmets.

BeyGon 07-03-2019 05:10 PM

even the newer black one has that problem. you can send them into Bell and they will refurbish them.

A930Rocket 07-03-2019 05:15 PM

I’ve thought about that over the years.

What’s the cost? Any idea?

No, don't remember but the time I checked I think you could even order the insides and replace it yourself. I know I had a concussion at Ascot once and took my helmet in for a check, make sure it didn't get damaged, they checked it out for free.

Ask this guy - he's a local P-car guy as well and he's WAY into vintage helmets!
