Anyone ever buy a premium residential fridge?
I'm looking at residential versions of commercial refrigerators for the office.
I like the compact 30" columns that came out within the past few years, and I'm thinking about one in the downstairs office due to space limitations. I found a True TR30REFLSGA, but it costs around $10K. OTOH a Sub-Zero 30" stand alone is maybe a few hundred less with a freezer. I have less than zero experience with Sub-Zero, but a lot of good things to say about True equipment warranties. |

Yes. I have a subzero. It cost almost as much as my SC!
Why? My inlaws have one that ran 30 years Why? I called the factory and asked how do you justify such a price tag? They said without pause, we design to last 20 years. Boom. Sold. The recycling thread grabbed a value for me. I HATE disposable things! We've had it 10is years. Works great. Damn. They are not cheap. |

Trues are found in many commerical applications - I work in a manufacturing facility and there are (3) Trues just used to refrigerate the lunches of the shop floor and office staffs. They run non stop.
consider looking at used - restaurant supply stores.

I looked and so far I like Bosch. IDK about 10K fridges. True is a beast, loud and heavy from what I know. I lusted for one any years ago. Glad I didn't spring.

I have a sub zero 36” side by side and love it. The sub zero/ wolf parts chain is very good when you need something too.

I have 5 Beverage Air Fridges and one BA Freezer in my meal prep kitchen. Bought new 4 years ago. The Freezer and two fridges have had problems. Reliability is no better or worse than residential models. Stay away from LG, Samsung and Bosch.

I assume the only difference is prolly noise, and ease of parts replacement /avalibility? The single glass door models look very tempting. You don't need all those drawers. Last edited by Arizona_928; 07-23-2019 at 04:27 PM.. |

Nope. I bought one of these 7 years ago when my POS 10 yr old Maytag died for the 14th time. Quiet, energy efficient, Fridge at a constant 38F, Freezer at a constant -2F. It has been completely flawless and the best fridge I have ever owned. I can't imagine what a $10k fridge does that this does not do for $1100. (I do pull it out and vacuum the coils annually)

I doan know if it would be considered premium or not, prolly not. but I have a 36 cu ft LG fridge,
biggest one they had at Pacific sales 'cept for those sub-zero things. IIRC I paid around $2400 for it about 6 or 7 years ago, maybe longer. Only had it fixed once when the fan in the freezer took a crap because "someone" left the freezer door open a little and the fan got iced up after everything re-froze. Not the fridge's fault. Oh, and I replaced the ice maker once cause the ice cube container kept turning into a sold block of ice. Got a new one on the interwebs for $120. Easy to install, took 5 minutes. Thanks youtube. Turns out the icemaker wasn't the problem tho. The water pipe thingy that directed the water into the cube trays got a little calcium deposit on it from the hard water and "affected the aim" a little. Water was running down into the cube bin and freezing. All I had to do was clean the noozle and problem solved. But now i have a good used spare ice maker!!!!!!! |
