Well, it really depends on what your wife is interested in. Hockey Hall Of Fame? watch the Toronto Blue Jays Game? Shopping at the Toronto Eatons Centre. If you like wine stop in Niagara On The Lake, many good wineries there and the surrounding area. We Will be at Inn On The Twenty this coming weekend. Porsche club tour on Saturday and some wine tours sunday and Monday. We tour 4-5 each day,buy some from each. Keep doing that until we cant fit anymore cases in the car. Lots of great roads to drive on,along the Niagara Escarpment. As for Niagara Falls, go to Table Rock restaurant for the best view of the falls while you eat. You can also watch all the morons standing on the rock wall trying to get the ultimate selfie of horseshoe falls. If you are looking for something different to eat while in Toronto go to Antler!! You will need reservations. I haven't been for a while but I will be going soon. PETA had a little protest in front of his establishment which made more people aware of it, ( antlerkitchenbar.com/ )

Get a hotel downtown and just leave the car at the hotel. Driving in Toronto especially downtown is an absolute nightmare.
Any downtown hotel will be pricey but the U.S. dollar is $1.25 compared to ours.
Look for hotels around Union Station
Sheraton Centre Hotel (across from City Hall)
Hyatt Regency King St. West
Inter Continental Toronto Centre
Toronto Marriot City Centre Hotel
Hilton Toronto
Westin Harbour Castle (right on the water)
Fairmont Royal York
All these hotels are safe.
Except for the Harbour Castle the above hotels are right downtown, you can cab/Uber or take public transit. Did I mention traffic is awful, leave the car at the hotel if sightseeing downtown.
As for food your options are endless.
The CN Tower Rogers Centre (Blue Jays) and Ripley's Aquarium are all close to the above hotels.

The Aquarium is great, right under CN tower.

Toronto is NOT the rest of Canada. Get out of the GTA and see Canada.

Greek area in the Danforth. Mr Greek was my go to place when I lived there. Real jerk for Jamaican food. Spadina area for Chinese or out in Markham. Italian in college st west. Little Italy. As for places to visit. Center island is cool, as is the science center, Toronto zoo, hockey hall of game and if you’re into shows. King st.
No offense but don’t see how you can hang out in the falls for several days. If you’re on the us side, anchor bar. Birth place of the buffalo wings apparently. But it’s pretty good.

Oh I almost forgot. Portuguese chicken use to be off st Clair and yonge Utility chicken so sometime you had two wings sometimes not. Cheap but so yummy. I wish I was in to right now

Stay away from the 401 highway, Don Valley parkway (DVP), QEW between 6am-9:30am and 2-7pm weekday traffic is a nightmare.

This site you pick the day and it tells you what events are on.

It's a big city you have to say what you find interesting. To me I'd rather go to Muskoka's or Kawartha lakes.
Toronto is about 1.5 hours from cottage country, couple years ago we rented a houseboat for a couple days, Bobcaygeon, Burleigh Falls for a swim in the rapids, Trent canal lift locks, swimming off the deck, stars with no light pollution, park at an island overnight, etc. You won't get a weekend, but can often get weekday rentals on short notice.

DRONE 07-30-2019 07:59 PM

We will be driving the rental to Sarnia then over the blue water bridge to port Huron to see my mom.maybe stop by London

I went up the CN Tower but regret not trying the Tower Walk.

My favourite hotel downtown is the Delta Toronto. It also has the best parking garage — slots are accessible and the ceilings are high (used to be important when I drove an F150).

Best thing to do in Toronto is keep on driving past it. Ottawa would be much better for a family vacation. Great walking city, so many things to see.

I don't think there's much to do on the US side but you know that. I enjoyed some of the cheesy attractions like a house of horrors on the Canadian side.

There is a beach in Toronto that was pretty cool. The local folks will know the name of the best one if more than one. Been too long.

If you are near the CN tower there is Steam Whistle brewery, really good Pilsner all they made for years, farther north (long walk) Papa Ceo Pizza, near U of T, great pizza by the slice still miss that place.

Lots of excellent restaurants in Toronto, and also lots of traffic if you are use to San Diego you should be fine but if staying downtown walk or TTC is good option.

Stop by Grand Bend(party party) or Bayfield (calmer) on way to Sarina if you can.

DRONE 07-31-2019 03:57 PM

I grew up in Port Huron, We had friends at Kettle Point never made it to Grand Bend though, I remember the trips to Rock Glen to get fossils and of course Mom and would take us to Story book Gardens in London
