50th anniversary Heuer Monaco

Does anybody know if Tag issued a new Monaco to celebrate its 50th anniversary? I can’t find any mention of it, but you guys are truly my best resource for important stuff.

Excellent, thanks.

Luxor watches via Amazon is asking $13,500.00.

I do like the Heuer only script on the dial. Classy watch but the design has always been controversial.

It's right up there with the Rolex Subs and deep seas IMO.

It’s been on my list that I send to Santa every year. Got a Carrera once but still lust after a Monaco.

Been real tempted lately to get a Monaco in either the blue or Gulf colors. Never have seen one in person so I don’t know if I would like the scale. Just can’t get into the massive watch fad- I don’t want to bang it into everything.

Looks like list price for them are around $6,000 give or take.

Always been a TH fan and have several but no Monaco (yet).

My first one bought 40 years ago.....pre Tag.

Nice, but not really a fan of the red dial. YMMV there, but you could also source an actual, vintage Heuer Monaco (1133) for less than that. ;)

Strange idea to have a square watch face for an analog dial. :)

That was one of the main criticisms of the watch Aigel... But to me it's iconic and the indices fill that space nicely.

I know... I know ...

I'm from the Casio F91 generation. Much easier to fulfill watch dreams. :D

I have an early 70's Autavia, it is my favorite watch to wear. I wear it often too. I like the Monaco too I would love to own an vintage one. They are probably out of this world expensive now. The Autavia's are getting ore expensive too.

Tried on a Gulf in the store one time. They are gorgeous watches. I can’t stomach the thought of tying up that kind of scratch in a watch, but if I was going to, that’d be the watch.

Yeah, there is no way I would pay full retail for any new offering from Tag. Though, that is primarily because there are other vintage Heuer pieces that I'd rather have [cough]Jim's Autavia[/cough].
If you like the Monaco, you can find some of the different variants for relatively cheap on the secondary market.
Also, many references will appreciate nicely over time [/cough]Jim's Autavia[/cough].

I picked this one up several years back, and you can probably find them today for under $3k used (which is over 3x what I paid initially):

Jim... Your Autavia has just the right amount of patina! :)

John Rogers 08-08-2019 08:35 PM

Remember the watch wasn't made for Steve McQueen but Jackie Ickx I think but Steve showed it very well with the "two finger salute" at the end

I would prefer a vintage Monaco.

I may take a look around and see if I can find one, I expected the price to be more like 10K for a used one without looking.

Gonna check my resources and see if I can find one.

I really like your Autavia. The thought of a vintage Monaco is appealing. Do you know any vintage watch dealers that can be trusted?
