What is a "Beach Unit", a measurement of ANSI spec

Look at the ANSI spec sheet.

2nd shaded box down, middle row.

what the heck is a BEACH UNIT of measurement?

Poly Sheeting product has listed "Puncture resistance of this product is 125 beach units.????????? and equiv is 3.7 joules.

Huh?

a beach unit? 125 of them?

I googled it to no avail. only got Random data and images.

Spec sheet is attached.

I dare the brain trust, definition please.

Are these Beach Units? 125 pounds perhaps?

Don't know, but apparently it's a thing. If you google it, you just get rental units on the beach.

My "Cliff Calvin" guess is that has to withstand a 125 pound lady in high heels walking across it on top of the sand of a beach. Yea, that sound right.

Those girls are not beach units. They fall into the Absolute Unit category.

The guy in the middle is probably 125 lbs, and he needs a haircut.
