The good days

Sometimes life is a *****. Sometimes, like today, it’s pretty damn decent. Went crabbing with my kids this am and while it was a bit slow we managed a little less than half a bushel. Some buddies went to a different spot and managed 3/4 bushel. End result was we got together with some more friends for a nice evening in my detached garage with plenty of crabs and some good company to eat them with. Shared a 12 pack or so with said friends and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m not rich. Don’t have a Porsche any more. Don’t have a second home in some far away place. But I gotta say these are the days I hope my kids can experience when they become adults. Screw money and fame. Simple things like a picnic table covered in steamed crabs with good conversation are where it’s at. So thankful for like minded friends. I don’t know how long this ride will last but I’m thrilled to have a ticket.

Sounds like a great day...... Family and friends are the best!

Fresh crab, beer, friends and family?

Jackpot!

Congrats.

You don't need to be a millionaire to live a million dollar life. There are people much richer than most of us on here that would give several millions to have just one day like you did. Live it and enjoy it.

What a wonderful day you have described, berettafan. Thanks for letting us hitchhike on your happiness. There is nothing that makes one richer than a day with your kids. Spent the day with my son at the Portland Indycar race today. I get it!

Very cool. A successful person is one who did exactly what they wanted to do today and enjoyed every moment of it.

Anyone who eats crab is a rich person - I don't care what anyone says.

Carpe diem!

You are rich beyond most folks' wildest dreams....in fact, we all are. Enjoy...

Yer a 1%'er :)

Just passed another lap around the sun. My ticket has been punched so may times it's hard to find a space.

I don't disagree. the texture and flavor of a rusty fat blue crab right out of the steamer is a special thing.

nice thoughts from all on here, good stuff!

Out here we have Dungeness. Not as good as the blue crabs you have, but easier to eat. We used to go get a bushel from down on the wharf in DC. SAdd Old Bay and steam. Perfection.

Enjoy!

Everyday I wake up is a good day for me and my family :)

Sounds like a wonderful day to me. All the riches a person needs, yet very hard for some to get...

You live close enough to a place in the ocean you can pull up enough crabs to have a party; what would you need a second home for, you have a hankerin' for venison or something?

Baz 09-02-2019 04:33 PM

When I was much younger and living in Norfolk we had friends who lived in Ocean City and would visit them a couple times each year. They lived on a canal and had a little dock and crab traps. That was my first experience with blue crabs and I never forgot how delicious they are.

This.

Like so many, Friday I took my daughter to college and moved her into a dorm for her freshman year. We live in a small town so everyone knows everyone. Jack took my daughter's classmate Megan off to college for her freshman year on Friday too. I woke up this morning. Yesterday, Jack died of a brain aneurysm. :(

Poor Megan.

So, I'm just curious - do fresh caught crabs from Maryland make it to Atlanta when they are packed with dry ice? :)
