Best go to music

So I find when I’m driving and people are pissing me off I turn to metal - I know, but it relaxes me. When, after a long day I need some deep moral cup fill up, I turn to music. These are a few of my go to: get back to normal https://youtu.be/IuUDRU9-HRk
https://youtu.be/IuUDRU9-HRk

https://youtu.be/KDIQfTdKWuY

https://youtu.be/gsdfgATUiJc

https://youtu.be/TAqZb52sgpU

As a old musician I find that after all the crap that goes on in my life, when I watch/listen to the above I mellow, and draw a tear to my eyes remembering what it meant to actually make music....

Add yours

As I've got older, I've remembered a few songs I liked a little bit back in the '70's, so I look 'em up on youtube. Wow, I like some of the young guys renditions of them and I like playing the youtubes with lyrics. As long as I don't get any complaints from the neighbors I think my singing is going really well

It depends so much upon the road, the car and me. I have been abetted by Joan Jett and the Black Hearts and have found myself driving at "arrest me now please ,Officer" speeds listening to Ludwig 's Fifth symphony.

I grew up in the 50s and 60s when AM radio was the only thing to listen to. The choice was limited to 2-3 radio stations. Lot of commercials between songs so the push buttons on the radio got a work out. FM radio came along and with 8 track and cassettes, music became constant and it suited my tastes. I'm a rock/roll guy, at that time, it was my go to music.

As I got older, my music taste changed and with the advent of streaming, SD carts etc, I have a 4000 - 8000 song play list that reflects my taste and its pretty inclusive with the exception of Hip/hop.

I will tell you that the music I listened to in the 60s is the base of my music library. I think that holds true for everyone - music you listened to when you were a teenager.

I pretty much agree in that the music the 70s and early 80s really transports me back in time, but I also have a hobby of searching out new stuff. There is a lot of good stuff out there these days...but you have to dig for it.

Yep. George (X2) for sure. Alan Jackson, too.

However, to put a YouTube album on while working when feeling good - not beer good, just upbeat - any Tom Petty or The Pretenders early albums

I listen to American Roots when I need to get my head on straight. All the singer-songwriters out there, well someone knows how to articulate how I'm feeling so I can make sense of my world a little better...and if the voice is female, well, all the better..

(But I had The Have Nots by X set to "11" the other day and I played it through enough times that I'm sure my neighbors figured I'd started drinking again!)
(I haven't)

I still listen to the Rock and Roll I grew up with, and I love love love classic country like Buck Owens and Merle and Dwight Yoakum and Hank.

(Metal makes me anxious...Jazz I've never understood, I'm too old for Hip Hop or todays Radio Hits...)

This is a car forum. So this question IMO speaks to driving and music. Just me, an open road, at night. This is my favorite.

Saw Starcrawler this summer as a warmup band for Beck. Incredible band, with lots of teenage horror schtick and Arrow, who will be a major star.

I too like to keep up with the new stuff. I'll add Larkin Poe to your list. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy0RGsd2-JA

I have a "new" country station playing at work all day long. The station is local small town, and reports on local stuff/weather. Usually in the car, I will playing some classic rock, or light metal, favorites being Rush, LZ, Pink Floyd. Deep Purple.

I'm too feeble to be a threat to anyone. Besides, I've never worn a jock strap on the outside of my pants.
