OMG stumbled across "Echo In The Canyon" on Netflix

Wow, what a great documentary.

Jakob Dylan reminisces and re-records songs from some of the greatest bands of the 1960's whom were influenced by the community of musicians and artists that lived in Laurel Canyon in LA. Great interviews with musical giants.

I gotta say, Jakob Dylan comes across as one of the most comfortable people in his own skin that I have ever seen. Might be a trick of the editing booth but, it might be an accident of birth. Just my observation.

Watch it if you liked the Byrds and the BeachBoys and the Mamas and the Papas and Buffalo Springfield and Crosby Stills and Nash and the Beatles

Now I have to see if I can find the movie "Model Shop"...

(Another Observation. One of the members of Crosby Stills and Nash did too many drugs)

I agree about Jakob. Cool guy and what a voice he has. Good film

My local cable co has the David Crosby film on demand so I watched that right after, that too was good but I wished it focused more on his current music

I loved the Wallflowers first two albums (JD being the epicenter) from some years back...lost track of him. As far as the Laurel Canyon "scene"... find the documentary on "The Troubadour" that I watched some years back which was awesome imo. Who knew Elton John was part of that scene too ? The names we all grew up with....before they were "names"...How David C is still here....I dunno.

Thanks!

We got to see it when it first came out in the theaters. Sure brought back some great memories of Laurel Canyon in the late 60s. Right off Sunset Bl but a completely different world, like you were out in the country.

Watched it last night and will watch again this weekend. Jakob Dylan did a great job, it was nice seeing some of the artists today. For some time hasn't been too kind.

Stephen Stills seems a little burned out but he can still play and Brian Wilson is still amazing!

And Michelle Phillips during the Mamas and Papas heyday, like a screen door in a hurricane and twice on Sunday!

If you have no seen it check out Sound city by Dave Grohl

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2306745/

Studio closes its doors, Dave buys the Sound board, builds a replica studio then invites all the people who made records in the OG studio to come see it then play some tunes.

He goes through the history of the iconic studio and interviews a lot of the people who made it famous.

Thanks for the tip; I'll add it to my list of Netflix documentaries to watch.

But I never seem to get away from "Chasing Classic Cars", "Wheeler Dealers" and "Highway through Hell"....

WOW! Thanks for the heads up on this. Great music, and I love watching and listening to Jade.

If you like this sort of thing you might look for “Muscle Shoals.” It’s on Amazon and YouTube for about $4.

This is a good one. Fascinating history. It has a happy ending too, but not the Robert Kraft kind.

Bumping this back into the daylight, for those that I haven’t seen it.

Watch it once, you’ll likely watch it again.

The Muscle Shoals doc is awesome too . The one I mentioned earlier was not a doc on the club, but was called "The Troubadours" and was about James Taylor and Carly....but had lots of video, back story, etc. about the club and the Laurel Canyon scene.

Found this in the collection and gave it another listen.

Loved the scene where they're listening to the old records.
