Tiger Woods

Won his 82nd yesterday, tied for the most wins. He looked great, his back and knee operations must have helped. Other than some car and Motorcycle racing Golf is the Pro Sport I watch. Especially when Tiger is playing.

Since he won his third major in 13 months I had to dig this out and start wearing it again.

One of the lucky few who truly found his calling. An amazing talent. But, as far as watching golf... it’s very useful on lazy Sunday afternoons when I want to take a nap.

Right up there with watching lawn bowling.

I'm happy for Mr. Woods, though. Not many can sink so low and rise again.

Reminds me of a comic panel I saw years ago. An old guy says "I wonder if I should either watch golf on TV or dust setting on the floor" His wife says "Remember what the doctor said about your heart" The husband replies "Golf it is, then"

Golf is easily the most intense and suspenseful spectator sport there is.
Baseball, football, basketball, soccer, and hockey are all snooze-fests in comparison.
Of course, if you're not a skilled golfer, you have no idea.

F1 racing is easily the most intense and suspenseful spectator sport there is.
Baseball, football, basketball, soccer, and hockey are all snooze-fests in comparison.
Of course, if you're not a skilled F1 driver, you have no idea.

Or something like that...

How about golf being like a Swiss biathlon?
-2 minutes to run to the next lay.
-10 seconds to hit ball.

Big Wave Surfing Contests is easily the most intense and suspenseful spectator sport there is.
Baseball, football, basketball, soccer, golf, and hockey are all snooze-fests in comparison.
Of course, if you're not ridden a double overhead wave ever, you have no idea.

I think that people like Larry Bird or Tiger Woods make it seem like you are watching the impossible happen, even if you have no idea how to play. You see it, and even as it is happening, it still seems as if it cannot possibly happen.

But it does. And that is the magic.

...and they make it look so easy!

Agree on both...

I think it's awesome what Tiger has done...after the abyss :)

Are you trying to say something that makes sense here?

Who would be snoozing if they watched baseball? The golf spectators or the skilled golfer.

My industrial complex neighbor is about a three handicap and he does not come off like an aloof dick at all.

recycled sixtie 10-29-2019 06:10 AM

The kind of sports you watch is a subjective thing. Golf is a great sport either watching or playing. I would never criticize anybody if they did not like it. Each one to their own.

I agree with the first sentence but the second point is that even beginner golfers have fun. Most of them anyway. :)

BeyGon 10-29-2019 06:59 AM

Tiger is just fun to watch, he more than most of them will make some amazing unbelievable shot, when he hits one out into the trees and you think, it's over for him, he is looking at how to hole it from there, he just really is good.
