Normally I’m a Stones/Who/James Taylor/Elton John/Dolly Parton/Jackson Browne/Sinatra etc type of guy but recently I’ve been sampling Metallica.

Why?

They are huge benefactors to very worthwhile educational programs at the College I work at. Metallica Scholars really made a difference in the lives of young people in our community.

Robert Trujillo the bass player of Metallica came to visit our program. Nicest guy out there. Humble and personable, their financial support has affected the lives of tens of thousands of students worldwide.

You should have seen the expression on my students’ faces when I brought him into the classroom where they were working. PRICELESS

We're doing a 23 hour Turn-N-Burn trip to Chicago to see Pegboy, old Chicago hardcore this weekend.

Literally. Getting on a plane at 2:15 in the afternoon, returning at 1:30 the next day.

So freaking excited. I saw them in '94 in a dive bar on campus, then they came back to the house and hung out because my roommate's brother knew them.
